Abstract:
Described is a stabilizer composition comprising a 3-arylacrylic ester, a polymeric compound having a molecular weight of at least 2000 which carries, on a polymeric framework, side groups having secondary amine functions, all substituents positioned to the amine nitrogen being other than hydrogen, a chroman derivative, and an organic phosphite and/or phosphonite. The stabilizer composition is particularly suitable for stabilizing thermoplastic polyurethane against light, oxygen and heat.

Stabilizers consisting of (a) 2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-2-(2'-stearyloxyethyl)-chroman and (b) glyceryl stearate, glyceryl hydroxystearate, partial esters of stearic acid with condensates of glycerol and trimethylolpropane, triglyceryl stearate and/or tetraglyceryl stearate, with or without further conventional additives, the weight ratio of (a) to (b) being from 10:1 to 1:10, give improved stabilization to discoloration and superior stability during processing when used in plastics such as polyethylene or polypropylene.

The present invention relates to 4-formylamino-N-methylpiperidine derivatives of the formula (I) where the variables are as defined in the Description, to a process for preparing these piperidine derivatives, to the use of these piperidine derivatives of the invention, or prepared according to the invention, for stabilizing organic material, in particular for stabilizing plastics or coating materials, and also to the use of these piperidine derivatives of the invention, or prepared according to the invention, as light stabilizers or stabilizers for wood surfaces. The present invention further relates to stabilized organic material which comprises these piperidine derivatives of the invention or prepared according to the invention.

Stabilizer mixture for organic material, in particular for plastics, comprising (a) one or more chroman derivatives of the general formula I ##STR1## (b) one or more organic phosphites of the general formula II ##STR2## or an organic phosphonite of the formula III ##STR3## or mixtures of the phosphites II and the phosphonite III and c) one or more amines of the general formula IV ##STR4## where the components (a) and (b) are present in the ratio of from 1:5 to 1:14 by weight and the component (c) is present in an amount of from 0.01 to 2.0% of the weight of (a)+(b) in the stabilizer mixture.
