    摘要: This invention provides an electromechanical device comprising an active material comprising a metal oxide such as Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 wherein the elastic modulus of metal oxide can be modulated by applying external electric field. The Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 layer in a substrate\electrode\Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9\electrode structure or conductive substrate\Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9\electrode structure develops a stress upon applying an electric field. This invention provides methods for tailoring the elastic modulus of materials using an electric field for the generation of an electromechanical response.

The film comprises nano-sized grains being in a ferroelectric phase and having at least three different crystallographic variants defining at least two polycrystalline macro-domains. The film is shaped to define at least one film region with the macro-domains of a predetermined shape and different orientations of crystallographic axes with respect to the film's surface, thereby enabling to apply a temperature change to the film to induce movement of the polycrystalline macro-domains boundaries enabling super-pyroelectric properties.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for removing sulfur dioxide from a flue gas is described. The apparatus has sequentially operable scrubbing zone and regeneration zone, which communicate with one another via a molten eutectic mixture of lithium, sodium and potassium carbonates. In the scrubbing zone, an ingress flue gas interacts with the molten carbonates, resulting in chemical absorbance of the sulfur dioxide and in discharge of reaction gases. In the regeneration zone, ether a chemical or electrochemical melt regeneration takes place resulting in formation of sulfur-containing vapor which is cooled down for converting the sulfur-containing vapor into a liquid and solid phase for a further collection and utilization.

    摘要: A solar energy conversion system is presented. The system comprises at least one waveguide arrangement having at least one light input respectively. The waveguide arrangement comprises a core unit for passing input solar radiation therethrough and a cladding material arrangement interfacing with the core therealong. The cladding material arrangement is configured as an array of spaced-apart solar cells arranged along the core unit and having different optical absorption ranges, such that an interface between the waveguide core and the cladding arrangement spectrally splits the photons of the input solar radiation by causing the photons of different wavelengths, while passing through the core unit, to be successively absorbed and thereby converted into electricity by the successive solar cells of said array.

    摘要: A thermoelectric infrared detector comprising a substrate and two kinds of conducting pillars. The pillars longitudinally extend away from the substrate towards incident infrared radiation. The pillars have upper, hot ends remote from the substrate and lower ends at the substrate. Pairs of adjacent pillars of different kinds are electrically connected by a conducting junction at their upper ends, and thereby define thermocouples. The junctions of different pairs of pillars are exposed to the incident radiation.
