An exposure device for exposing a photoreceptor, includes: a plurality of data electrodes disposed for each of a plurality of columns parallel to a moving direction of the photoreceptor; a plurality of selected electrodes disposed for each of a plurality of rows perpendicular to each of the data electrodes; a plurality of light emitting element arrays which include a plurality of light emitting elements disposed near intersection points between the data electrodes and the selected electrodes in intersections between the data electrodes and the selected electrodes, the plurality of light emitting elements being linearly arrayed; a driving signal output circuit for generating a driving signal based on an image signal to supply the driving signal to the light emitting element arrays; and a column selection unit for switching the light emitting element arrays to be selected based on a lighting situation of each of the light emitting elements of each of the light emitting element arrays.

摘要： An ink-jet printing apparatus according to the present invention has a main tank storing ink, a sub-tank releasably connectable with the main tank through an ink supply passage and a printing head for ejecting ink supplied from the sub-tank, for performing printing by ejecting ink from the printing head to a printing medium. The apparatus includes an ink supply controller for supplying ink from the main tank to the sub-tank through the ink supply passage during a period after completion of printing at a preceding time and before starting printing at a next time, and an ink draining controller for performing ink draining of at least a part of ink remaining in the sub-tank during the period after completion of printing at the preceding time and before starting printing at the next time and in advance of ink supply by the ink supply controller.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a recording head having discharge ports to discharge ink; an ink tank containing ink to be supplied to the recording head; and device for performing predischarges to stabilize ink discharges from the recording head. In this apparatus, the recording head is provided with a discharge unit to discharge plural kinds of ink, and the device for performing predischarges operates predischarges from all the discharge ports, only from the discharges ports in the vicinity of each end of the discharging units, and from all the discharge ports in that order at least for predischarges from discharging unit having relatively thin ink. With such head and device for performing predischarges, it is possible to remove mixed ink after suction recovery with a lesser amount of ink consumption, and execute a high quality recording stably at all times.

摘要： According to an image processing method and apparatus of the present invention, an outline portion is extracted from input image data, and a pixel whose dot size is to be changed is extracted. The input image data is printed without any change, and the pixel whose dot size is to be changed is overlap-printed while the dot size is increased. Therefore, smoothing can be sufficiently performed in both the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction without increasing the dot density and decreasing the recording speed.

摘要： Three discharge port groups, each having a plurality of discharge ports, discharge inks of three primary colors to record swaths of the respective colors on a recording medium and repeat the discharging to complete a record. Joints of each of Y, M and C color swaths are spaced from joints of swaths of the other two colors by an equal distance, and the discharge port groups are offset from each other by 8n times of a discharge port pitch in a direction of feed of the recording medium. In a number of image buffers corresponding to the discharge ports, image data in one buffer is separated from image data in a different image buffer by an amount that is an integer multiply of one 8 bit byte.
