摘要:
A method of inserting a liner (10) into a host tubular (60), in which the liner is deformed to reduce its cross-sectional dimensions; the deformed liner is fed into the host tubular in a downstream direction; and a fluid is injected under pressure into the host tubular to urge the liner in the downstream direction, while the fluid pressure maintains the deformation of the liner. The liner is advantageously deformed by at least one set of rollers (22, 23, 24) into an unstable cross-sectional shape which has at least three axes of symmetry and which spontaneously expands into contact with the host tubular unless held by the pressure of the injected fluid. The injected fluid applies a shear force to the liner in the downstream direction which is substantially uniform along the length of the liner.

A tubular system made up of a tubular, a liner in the tubular, and longitudinally oriented members, which may be disposed within channels in the liner. The members advantageously may be used for pulling a liner into a host tubular, and/or maintaining the structural strength of the liner. The members are continuous along the length of the plastic-lined tubular, and if applicable, through intermediary joints. The channels may be in the inner and/or outer surfaces of the liner. The members may be usable for carrying electrical current or signals, fiberoptic signals, or data communications; for heating the liner; and or for detecting faults in the liner and/or the host tubular.

A lined tubular system and method provides for the manipulation and control of annular fluids in channels (18) between the tubular (10) and the liner (17). This structure allows for profiling of the exterior wall of a liner such that one or more continuous channels are provided along the length of the lined tubular system. The system may also include one or more non-crushable members or tubes between the liner's exterior surface and host tubular's interior surface. Rounded, granular particles or spacers in the annulus between the liner and host may provide an alternative path for fluid flow. The particles or spacers may be uniformly or randomly distributed in the annulus.

A method of treating fluids in an annulus (18), comprising the steps of: providing a fluid-circulation annulus (18) between a host tubular (10) and a liner (17) therein; and manipulating fluids in the annulus (18) so that the relative proportions of fluid components in the annular fluid correspond to the relative permeation rates of the fluid components from the bore to the annulus (18). The method may further comprise the steps of: detecting an undesired fluid in the annulus (18); and manipulating the annular fluids in response to the undesired fluid, so that the relative proportions of fluid components in the annular fluid, including the undesired fluid, correspond to the relative permeation rates of the fluid components from the bore to the annulus (18). In a case where the undesired fluid has potential for harm to the host tubular (10), the manipulating step may reduce the potential for harm.

A personnel evacuation and rescue system provides a reliable, easy to operate, and easy to access evacuation system for personnel working on elevated surfaces in hazardous environments. The evacuation and rescue system includes a ground-mounted base unit, a tubular escape chute, an upper docking portal mounted on the work platform that is mounted onto the side of a drilling or well service mast work platform, and cables for support, deployment, and retrieval of the escape chute. A quick disconnect means for anchoring a fall restraint harness used by the personnel working on the mast platform is attached to the docking platform.
