    摘要: Apparatus for mounting an air brake cylinder to a bolster casting of a railroad car includes an adaptor mounting plate disposed contiguous to the surface of the bolster casting. The plate has a plurality of holes formed therein. The bolts are inserted through holes in the bolster casting and through the corresponding holes in the plate. Nuts are torqued onto the bolt shaft to secure the plate to the casting. The adaptor mounting plate also includes a plurality of threaded studs welded thereto. A flange is welded to the cylinder housing at the rod end of the cylinder. The flange has holes formed at its four corners. The flange and cylinder mate with the adaptor mounting plate such that the threaded studs on the plate are inserted through the corresponding holes in the flange. Nuts secure the flange to the plate. Holes are formed in the interior of the cylinder to accommodate the bolts and associated nuts securing the bolster casting to the plate. The apparatus of the present invention allows a single person to complete the entire assembly of the cylinder to the casting.

    摘要: A method of operating a continuous ink jet printing system which includes a nozzle arranged to be vibrated by a piezoelectric oscillator. The nozzle, in use, passes a stream of ink past a charging electrode. The continuity of charge detection is sensed by a charge detector disposed immediately downstream of the charging electrode. The amplitude of the stimulation voltage applied to the piezoelectric oscillator is set sufficiently low such that the level of charge detected by the charge detector is below a threshold value. The amplitude of the stimulation voltage is then increased in discrete steps until the charge detector detects intermittent and proper droplet charging. The amplitude of the stimulation voltage is then further increased from its level at the end of the second step by a predetermined amount.

    摘要: A nail flattening apparatus for use primarily in re-furbishing wooden pallet components, comprising a loading station and an operating station interconnected by a conveyor. Boards having nail stubble protruding from opposite sides are placed onto the conveyor in the loading station and transferred to the operating station, whereupon a reciprocating hammer and stationary anvil disposed on opposite sides of the conveyor cooperate to substantially flatten all nail stubble in a single operation. In the preferred embodiment, a microprocessor controls a plurality of hydraulic cylinders which automatically move each board into the proper operating position, lift each board off of the surface of the conveyor, move the hammer to compress substantially all nail stubble, release the hammer to its retracted position, return the board to the conveyor for transfer out of the operating station, and move the next board from the loading station into the operating station.

At the same time the number of guard drops is maintained the same or is reduced between the printable drops immediately adjacent to the interline gap, so that the distance between printed drops immediately adjacent to the interline gap is increased without increasing the number of drops in the raster.

    摘要: A generally J-shaped snorkel tube with a mouthpiece at its lower end carries an attached whistle on one side near its upper end. The whistle is in a hollow projection on one side of a sleeve that is slidably inserted over the upper end of the snorkel tube. The whistle and sleeve are a separately formed attachment for a conventional snorkel. The whistle does not obstruct the top opening in the snorkel tube through which the use can expel water from the snorkel by blowing into the mouthpiece. The user covers this top opening with one hand when blowing the whistle.

    摘要: A piezo-electric ink jet droplet generator (1) has a body part (2) having a first ink supply passage (10/11) and a second ink supply passage (12) extending generally perpendicularly therefrom through a protrusion (20) of the body and opening at an end face (14) of the protrusion. A piezo-electric crystal (6) is attached to a surface of the body closely spaced from the first ink supply passage and adjacent the end of the second ink supply passage which connects with the first supply passage. A nozzle (17) is mounted in a cap (3) which is secured to the end of the protrusion (20), the nozzle being in alignment with the second supply passage (12). The inner surface (13) of the cap surrounding the nozzle is spaced from the end face (14) of the protrusion thereby forming, in use, a disk (21) of ink between the inner face of the cap and the end face of the protrusion. The cap is sealed to the protrusion by means of a flexible seal ( 16) and engaged with the protrusion by means of a quick-release coupling (9,19).
