摘要: A tool connecting device has a first member extending along a first axis and has an internal cavity adjacent a first end and a threaded outer surface. A second member extends along a second axis and has a tool at a first end and a joint element at a second end. The joint element is pivotally mounted in the cavity of the first member. The second member has an angled surface intermediate the first and second ends. The angled surface is angled outwardly in a direction from the second to the first end. A sleeve is provided which has a threaded inner bore mounted on the threaded outer surface of the first member and is capable of moving along the first axis. The sleeve has a tapered leading end for contacting the angled surface of the second member. The sleeve is movable on the first member to multiple positions along the first axis each position allowing an angle between the second axis and the first axis to be limited to any angle between 0 degrees and approximately 45 degrees.

摘要: The invention relates to a multi-configurable plating system for use in osteosynthesis and a method therefore. The multi-configurable plating system includes a multi-configurable plate formed from a plurality of annular mounting tabs linked together by a plurality of linking members. The plurality of annular mounting tabs and the plurality of linking members form a separable straight plate, a separable L-shaped plate and a separable T-shaped plate. The separable straight plate is connected to the multi-configurable plate by no more than two linking members. The separable L-shaped plate is connected to the multi-configurable plate by no more than two linking members. The separable T-shaped plate is connected to the multi-configurable plate by no more than three linking members. This enables a user to easily separate the separable straight plate, the separable L-shaped plate and the separable T-shaped plate from the multi-configurable plate by cutting along the appropriate linking members.

摘要: A prosthetic glenoid component has a body having a concave bearing surface and a convex glenoid contacting surface. First and second pegs extend outwardly from adjacent respective first and second ends of the bone contacting surface of the body, the first and second pegs have portions with a first diameter at the bone contacting surface extending for a first length and a second diameter extending from the first diameter for a second length, the first diameter larger than the second diameter. A third peg extends outwardly from the bone contacting surface intermediate the first and second pegs. The third peg has a third diameter greater than the second diameter portion of the first and second pegs and a third length greater than the first length of the first diameter portion of the first and second pegs. The third length is less than the sum of the first and second lengths.

摘要: A self-expanding stent-graft provided in a diametrically compacted state for implantation and retained preferably by a constraining sheath, useful for the temporary or permanent repair of injured, partially or entirely transected body conduits including blood vessels. It may be used under direct visualization to quickly stop or substantially reduce loss of blood from such damaged vessels and to quickly re-establish perfusion distal to the injury site. The device would typically be implanted under emergency room conditions but also be used in field situations by trained medical technicians. After an end of the device is inserted into a blood vessel through the injury access, deployment preferably initiates from the device end in a direction moving toward the middle of the length of the device by directionally releasing the constraining sheath. In a preferred embodiment, the two opposing ends of the device are individually deployable from the compacted, small diameter intended for insertion into a vessel, to the larger diameter at which they fit interferably into a portion of the vessel.

摘要: An optical sensor system (20) has an optical detector (28) with an active detector area (38) and a detector output signal (40). A test-signal optical source (44) has a controllable optical source (48) having an output of a wavelength detectable by the optical detector (28), and a test-signal director (50) that directs the output of the optical source (48) to the active detector area (38) of the optical detector (28). A housing (22) encloses the optical detector (28) and the test-signal optical source (44). A test instrumentation controller (52) controls the operation of the optical source (48), and receives the detector output signal (40) for evaluation.
