    摘要: An image forming apparatus, in accordance with the present invention, forms a color image on an image bearing member. The image forming apparatus includes a charging device for electrically charging the image bearing member, an exposing device for exposing a light beam on the image bearing member so as to form a latent image on the charged image bearing member corresponding to image data to be formed, and a developing device for developing the latent image formed on the image bearing member with a developing agent including toner. The image forming apparatus also includes a detecting device for detecting the amount of toner attached to the image bearing member by the developing device, an estimating device for estimating the amount of toner attached to the image bearing member in accordance with image data to be formed, and a control device for controlling the charging device, the exposing device and the developing device in accordance with the detected toner attaching amount and the estimated toner attaching amount so as to stabilize image density changes of the image formed on the image bearing member. Thereby, the image forming apparatus of the present invention can correct for image density variations due to a change in the operating environment or a deterioration over time independently of the conventional maintenance of image forming materials and processes, and forms an image having a stable high image density.

    摘要: In an apparatus for adjusting the intensity of a light beam, a first driving current which is stepwisely increased in a first cycle is supplied to a semiconductor laser. The light beam is deflected to scan a photosensitive drum and is detected to generate a positional signal by a photodetector outside of the drum. The intensity of the light beam is also detected by a monitor detector and compared with a predetermined target intensity. The comparison result is latched in a latch circuit to determine a first drive signal. When the intensity of the light beam reaches the target intensity after the generation of the positional signal, a second drive signal is generated in a second cycle longer than the first cycle instead of the first drive signal and is supplied to the semiconductor laser. The second drive signal is determined in accordance with the comparison result latched in the latch circuit.

    摘要: In an optical unit, a light beam is emitted from a light source toward a given object. Part of the light beam is reflected by a reflecting mirror and is returned to a monitor diode which is incorporated in the light source. The reflecting mirror is arranged in an optical path along which the light beam is directed from the light source to the object, but is located outside of an image region containing an optical axis and expanding in the main scanning direction. By use of the light beam returned to the monitor diode, the deflection start position from which the light beam emitted from the light source is deflected is detected. In other words, the deflection start timing is detected. A variation in the monitor current produced by the monitor diode is utilized for controlling the light source, to thereby match the horizontal synchronization.

The recording apparatus comprises a flip lever arranged to oppose a distal end of a first convey path for conveying the sheet recorded by a recording mechanism. A temporary stacking tray is arranged to oppose a distal end of the second convey path and temporarily stacks the sheet guided by the flip lever from the first convey path to the second convey path while the first surface of the sheet faces upward. In front of the temporary stacking tray, an inverting mechanism is provided for conveying the sheet temporarily stacked on the temporary stacking tray to the third convey path through a fourth convey path without passing through the flip lever while the second surface opposing the first surface faces upward.

In the apparatus, a photosensitive drum motor and a transfer drum motor are driven by motors exclusively provided thereto. The apparatus includes a photosensitive drum motor controller and a transfer drum motor controller respectively provided for speed-controlling the photosensitive drum motor and the transfer drum motor. By these motor controllers, a phase difference between a frequency generator signal from the motor and a phase reference signal is checked. Even if the phase difference exceeds a predetermined range of phase, the motor controller controls the motor so that the phase difference quickly falls within the predetermined range of phase.
