摘要: A method for stabilizing and centrally positioning an inner capillary in a concentric nebulizer comprises supporting the inner capillary near the tip of the nebulizer by contacting the nebulizer body against the inner capillary or by interposing a support between the nebulizer body and the inner capillary near the tip. An embodiment of a nebulizing device having stabilized central positioning of its inner capillary is disclosed which comprises an outer capillary with a linear bore and a gas/liquid orifice in a distal tip, a central capillary disposed within the linear bore, and a support sufficiently proximate the orifice to maintain the central capillary substantially centered within the outer capillary adjacent to the orifice. An open volume within the outer capillary between the orifice and the support is dimensioned to enable gas flow to spread substantially evenly around the central capillary.

摘要: A high altitude vehicle is brought to a desired altitude above sea-level prior to the transfer of fuel and/or oxidant from an airplane to the high altitude vehicle. The high altitude vehicle may be towed to the desired altitude by a tow airplane or may reach the desired altitude under its own power. At the desired altitude, the high altitude vehicle is connected to the tow airplane via a tow cable. Alternatively, the high altitude vehicle may be mechanically carried by the tow airplane. Fuel and/or oxidant is transferred to the high altitude vehicle from the tow airplane via respective fuel and/or oxidant lines. The high altitude vehicle then separates from the tow airplane and proceeds to high altitude under its own power. The high altitude vehicle weighs less and may have smaller wings than a comparable vehicle configured for self-powered, fully fueled flight from takeoff.

摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for atomizing liquids into a gaseous medium, in a fine, highly consistent, uniform dispersion. This pneumatic nebulizer method is designed to allow a wide range of liquids to be atomized without plugging. The process atomizes liquids directly from the surface of a body of liquid, allowing non-wetting materials to be used for the nebulizer. The liquid path does not require a narrowing of diameter at the exit area, nor along the length of the system, which minimizes plugging. The gas orifice is on or near the edge of the liquid path and may be very much smaller than the liquid path's area. The nebulizer has no suction. The liquid flow is controlled by pumping the liquid to the nebulizer. Most pneumatic nebulizer systems rely on the gas flow surrounding the liquid path, the liquid path surrounding the gas flow, or the gas flow being at right angles to the liquid flow. This nebulization process has the gas and liquid flow independently brought together, commonly alongside each other.

摘要: A semi concentric enhanced parallel path pneumatic nebulizer is described which has a nebulizer body with an inner capillary and outer passage, with liquid flow in one and gas flow in the other. The passage extends around the inner capillary and contacts the inner capillary's outer walls at the tip of the nebulizer body in a nozzle end. The inner capillary has a single lumen which conveys a fluid from an inlet on one end of the nebulizer to an exit port in the nozzle end. The inner capillary seals the passage within the nozzle end and has an opening in the capillary wall extending from the outermost edge of the capillary to the passage in the nebulizer body, allowing the fluid in the passage to exit the nebulizer through an exit port in the capillary wall. The fluids, being a gas and a liquid, interact to form an aerosol.

摘要: A system and process for atomizing liquids at an interface between the liquid and an ambient gas or air is provided. The system includes the steps of providing a gas stream in close proximity to the liquid, having a gas orifice shaped so that the liquid is induced to extend past the slower moving gas at the outer edge of the gas stream to a faster, more central portion of the gas stream, being broken up into aerosol particles, and atomizing the liquid into a gaseous medium as a fine, highly consistent and uniform dispersion. This system and method can significantly improve the aerosol and increase the range of liquid flow rates over which the nebulizer operate.
