    摘要: A conical beam concentrator consisting of a series of six component lenses which receive a convergent conical beam of diffused sunlight and emit a concentrated circular whole beam. There are six annular lenses aligned on the veritcal optic axis, as follows; an upper lens with a convex conical section which forms the apex of the concentrator, and five lower lenses with inset convex conical sections of graduated increased diameters. Each lens consists of twelve sections separated by radial walls which are covered by an opaque coating of paint which intercepts radiation not perpendicular to the convex conical sections of the lenses. The upper and lower conical walls of each lens are also covered by an opaque layer of paint to intercept extraneous radiation.

    摘要: An annular convex-concave lens mounted near the periphery of the circular roof of a circular building, a circular conical beam concentrator mounted below the roof at the center of the building, and a vertical metal heat duct mounted inside the beam concentrator. The annular lens receives and refracts a convergent conical incipient beam of diffused sunlight, forming a concentrated convergent lateral beam in the horizontal plane. The convergent lateral beam is projected inward to the beam concentrater which refracts the beam twice more and emits a thin convergent lateral beam onto the heat duct. The heat absorbed by the heat duct is distributed by air flowing through the duct to other parts of the building.

    摘要: A revolving flexible circular steel band mounted on a drum, with a tightening member locking the band to the drum to transmit rotary motion of the band to the drum. The inner wall of the band is divided into three shoes which grip the drum when the band is tightened. The tightening member is an overlapping wedge which is depressed onto an underlapping wedge, with the resulting wedging action decreasing the circumference of the band and locking it to the drum.

    摘要: A switch operated by a reciprocating pin mounted to the base of an electromagnetic reciprocator, which is a motor with a coil that retrieves electricity stored in the electromagnetic field of a permanent magnet. The switch consists of a reciprocating plastic block with two adjacent parallel grooves which engage the reciprocating pin. The pin strikes a curve at the end of each groove and causes the block to reciprocate in a direction perpendicular to the direction of reciprocation of the pin. Two terminal arms mounted on the block alternately contact two pairs of terminal posts connected to the coils of electromagnets in the electromagnetic reciprocator, reversing the circuit through the coils and the polarity of the electromagnets and causing the electromagnets to alternately attract and repel the permanent magnet. The switch operates the electromagnetic reciprocator, and the electromagnetic reciprocator operates the switch.

    摘要: The disclosure is a solar collector consisting of glass rods enclosed in a housing and mounted vertically on a roof or other elevated place to gather solar rays. The collector is fixed, with no tracking device or other moving parts. The glass rods are 6 mm or smaller in diameter, and there can be several thousand, depending on the sizes of the rods and collector. The upper ends of the rods are inclined at an angle of thirty degrees from horizontal, with the inclined surfaces occupying a plane which faces south so as to obtain maximum exposure to the winter sun. Solar rays striking the inclined ends of the rods are refracted into the rods. The rays travel down through the rods, with a predominantly parallel path of propagation being established by repeated reflections off the inside walls of the rods. The rays are emitted from the lower perpendicular ends of the rods as parallel rays of incoherent light which are directed into beam concentrators.
