摘要： A pile remover has a first embodiment for removal of short pilings and a second embodiment for long pilings. Both embodiments include a pile-fitting tube with hydraulic cylinders at the top end of the tube that push downward to cause rocking cutters at the bottom end of the tube to pivot with sharpened ends moving inward to shear off the piling. Both embodiments are designed for use with a back hoe or a derrick. After a piling has been shearing, with the cutters still in cut position, the back hoe operator can lift the cut off piling and deposit it on a barge or other conveyance by reversing the cutter action and drooping the piling.

摘要： A method of continuously making plates for a lead-acid battery, and the resulting battery, comprise providing an electrically conductive strip of a lead or lead alloy which is fed into a grid expander which converts the strip into a continuous mesh having a top and bottom bar, feeding the continuous grid mesh into a tab blanker to form the lug for each plate in the top bar and notching the top and bottom bars at spaced locations so that what becomes the corners of the top and bottom frame bars are notched, thereafter pasting the continuous grid mesh with active material paste and then dividing the continuous grid mesh into individual plates, the method disclosed providing a process capable of being reliably run at commercial rates of speed with minimal scrap rates due to separator punctures and the like, the process thus providing sufficiently wide processing latitude which, in the preferred embodiment, can even significantly minimize out-of-specification grids that would otherwise would have to be scrapped.

摘要： The invention uses an ion beam to polish a rotatable substrate from an oblique angle between the horizontal and the center line of the gun to the substrate to upgrade the quality of substrates. Alternatively, the substrates are left in the high vacuum chamber without breaking the vacuum for in-situ deposition of thin films thereby avoiding contamination, and to provide premium optics. A wobble stick arrangement is provided to align the ellipsometer reflected beam with the ellipsometer detector during operation without breaking the vacuum which, if broken, would admit contamination.

The aperture and Faraday rotator assemblies contain components which are optically contacted to one another as well as the ring laser gyroscope frame. The assemblies disclosed herein provide a simplified construction designed to fixture the Faraday rotator element in order to minimize handling and facilitate alignment to the ring laser gyroscope cavity, free from contamination and in proper alignment for optimum use of the Faraday rotator component and aperture needed for proper operation of an out-of-plane multi-oscillator ring laser gyroscope.
