Abstract:
A system which enables to observe an image without any trouble by suppressing an occurrence of the Moiré interference fringes, when implementing an enlarging observation of an image using a thin lens with respect to an image display screen having a plurality of pixels arranged two-dimensionally with a periodicity, such as the CRT display or the liquid crystal display is provided. The system for enlargedly observing an image on an image screen having a plurality of pixels arranged two-dimensionally with a periodicity, said system includes a thin transparent lens means configured to enlargedly and transparently observe an image, and arranged with a plurality of image enlarging optical elements in two-dimensions having a periodicity by a predetermined pitch. The lens means has an overall magnifying power in the range of 1.01˜1.20, and is placed on an observer side apart from the image screen with a predetermined gap. The predetermined gap between the lens means and the image screen is in the range of 2 mm˜40 mm, and the pitch of the plurality of image enlarging optical elements formed in the lens means is in the range of 0.023 mm˜0.25 mm. The predetermined gap between the lens means and the image screen is defined in association with the pitch of the optical elements of the lens means such that an intensity of Moiré interference fringes caused by a periodicity of an arrangement of the pixels in the image screen and a periodicity of an arrangement of the optical elements of the lens means must not exceed 0.15 in an absolute value.
Abstract:
Speriodal polymer beads having a uniform size are prepared by polymerizing uniformly sized monomer droplets formed by dispersing a polymerizable monomer phase over a cross-flow membrane into an aqueous phase. A shear force is provided at a point of egression of the polymerizable monomer phase into the aqueous phase, the direction of shear substantially perpendicular to the direction of egression of the monomer phase. The polymer beads can be employed in applications where beads having uniform diameters of 10 to 180 μm are useful.

To provide a cell-filled device that is suitable for use in, for example, an implantable or circulation type hybrid artificial organ. In a cell-filled device including hollow fiber membranes whose hollow portions are filled with cells, the hollow fiber membranes have modified cross sections, and a cell aggregate provided in each of the hollow portions has cells formed into two or more layers in arbitrary directions, provided that the distance from an arbitrary point of the cell aggregate to the nearest inner wall of hollow fiber membrane is less than 75 μm. This cell-filled device enables effective use of cells without the necrosis thereof. Further, according to the present invention, there is provided a method of manufacturing the cell-filled device.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a Fresnel lens, adapted to be placed in front of a display screen of a computer or a television set in order to magnify images for observation, which does not cause a rainbow-like pattern to appear even when annular prism elements as the constituent elements of said Fresnel lens are arranged at a fine pitch. A spherical surface having a radius of curvature corresponding to the focal distance of the lens formed by said annular prism elements of said Fresnel lens is formed within a circular area defined by a predetermined radius around the optical axis, where the rainbow-like pattern would otherwise appear due to diffraction. The predetermined pitch in arranging a plurality of annular prism elements of the Fresnel lens is equal to or less than 0.25 mm and the height of the annular prism elements in the circular area is equal to or less than 5 &mgr;m and preferably equal to or less than 7 &mgr;m.
Abstract:
A magnetic head drum for a magnetic recording apparatus comprising a metallic ring of a predetermined thickness, and a support body of a plastic material formed in said metallic ring through an outsert forming process. The support body of the plastic material includes a peripheral ring-shaped portion, a central boss portion for receiving a rotating shaft and a web portion connecting the ring-shaped portion with the boss portion. A plurality of magnetic heads are provided on a periphery of the drum to rotate as a unit with the metallic ring. There is also disclosed a method for manufacturing the magnetic head drum through an injection molding process of a plastic material using a metallic ring of a predetermined thickness.

Provided is a lumbar kyphosis-preventing lumbar brace which is capable of being placed on a back surface of a lumbar portion of a wearer to provide resistance to lumbar kyphosis, while facilitating a wearing operation thereof without the occurrence a displacement when it is being worn or during use. The lumbar kyphosis-preventing lumbar brace comprises: a generally rectangular-shaped resilient plate which has a width dimension capable of covering a lateral region of a back surface of a lumbar portion of a wearer, and a height dimension capable of covering between a hip region and a lower back region of the back surface of the lumbar portion; and a belt engagement member provided on one side of the resilient plate in an engageable manner with a belt of a garment worn by the wearer. The lumbar brace is adapted to be worn in such a manner that the resilient plate is placed on the side of a wearer's body with respect to the garment, while allowing the belt engagement member to be located outside the garment and engaged with the belt of the garment. For example, the resilient plate is made of a resin material, an animal hide such as a cattle hide, or a rubber material.

Abstract:
A stationary board adapted to be set up in a medial strip between traffic lanes to block lights of oncoming vehicles in the medial strip and facilitate identification of the medial strip in nighttime driving or riding. This stationary board comprises a pair of plate members each composed of a molded component made of a transparent plastic material, and the plate members are coupled with one another at the respective marginal edges thereof to form an integrated assembly having a hollow space therein. Each of the plate members is formed with irregularities in its inner surface facing the hollow space of the assembly. A top member molded of a plastic material is attached to the top portion of the assembly in a fitting manner. The plastic material of the top member contains a luminous pigment capable of absorbing, storing and emitting light. The stationary board of the present invention can bring out a function of facilitating identification of the medial strip in nighttime driving or riding as well as blocking lights of oncoming vehicles, while offering excellent aesthetic appearance.
