Abstract:
A bottom plate 25 is formed so as to open and close over substantially the entire bottom side of a document transport device 2, which is provided on the top of an image forming device, the bottom face of the bottom plate 25 being a pressure face for pressing against a document. The bottom plate 25 can be swung around a pivot 25a, and engages with a document transport device main body 21 by way of a document transport path bottom member 21. One end of the document transport path bottom member 71 is swingably supported by the document transport device main body 21, and a pin 71a that is provided at the other end thereof slidably engages in a groove 25c in a side wall 25b that is provided on the swinging end of the bottom plate 25, so as to open together with the bottom plate 25.

Abstract:
A sheet feeder includes a stopper located in a sheet feeding route and supported rotatably about a pivot point. The posture of the stopper is changed among a restricting posture in which a contact end contacts a leading end SU of a sheet S in a feeding direction to restrict the leading end SU before a feeding of the sheet S by a feeding mechanism, a feed allowing posture assumed during feeding and in which the contact end is separated from the leading end SU in a first direction F in which the sheet S is fed, and a rotational posture reached by rotating the stopper about the pivot point so that the contact end faces in a second direction opposite the first direction. The second direction is a direction in which the sheet S is pulled out from the feeding mechanism when a jam occurs.
Abstract:
A document feeder includes a document feeding means which feeds document sheets stacked on a document tray one at a time, a registration means which feeds each document sheet to an image reading position, a re-feeding means which receives the document sheet after a first side thereof is read and re-feeds the document sheet to allow a second side to be read, a discharging means which discharges the document sheet, a first drive transmission mechanism which transmits a driving force to the document feeding means and the re-feeding means, and a second drive transmission mechanism which transmits the driving force to the registration means and the discharging means. The driving force is transmitted to the first and second drive transmission mechanisms from a single motor. A clutch is provided upstream of the document feeding means in a direction in which the driving force is transmitted in the first drive transmission mechanism.
Abstract:
Provided is an automatic document conveying device, including: a document feeding portion that feeds a document from a document stacking tray; a conveying portion that conveys the document which is fed, to a document reading portion; a discharge portion that discharges the document after being read to a discharge tray; a branching guide that switches a conveying path so that a second surface is read after a first surface of the document is read; and a switchback portion including a switchback roller pair for sending the document to the conveying portion again after the conveying path is switched by the branching guide, in which a switch of the conveying path by the branching guide and open/close of a nip of the switchback roller pair are performed in one drive portion.

Abstract:
A position adjustment mechanism (90) includes a rack (91) fixed onto an upper surface of a second hinge member (87), a worm gear 93 that meshes with the rack (91), a handle (95) that rotates the worm gear (93), and a lever (97) that presses the second hinge member (87) against the first hinge member (85) to fix the second hinge member (87) to the first hinge member (85). The lever (97) is operated to release the pressure on the second hinge member (87) so that the handle (95) is operated, to thereby adjust a tilt of the document conveying device (27) with respect to the image reading portion (6) without using a tool and the like. After the adjustment, the lever (97) is operated to press the second hinge member (87), to thereby position the document conveying device (27) precisely at a position after the adjustment.

Abstract:
A sheet handling unit including a processing station having a stapling mechanism for stapling a plurality of sheets; a plurality of mail trays for receiving sheets transported from the processing station; and a bulk tray for receiving sheets transported from the processing station. The processing station is fixedly provided in a sheet handling unit body. The sheets transported from the processing station are delivered switchably to any of the mail trays or to the bulk tray.
