    摘要: Examples of the invention are used to provide a system and method for provisioning a telematics unit number based on a phone number already used by a customer. In examples, the telematics unit is provisioned with a number that aligns with a rate center plan, which is likely to result in a number that is local to a number the customer uses for dialing the unit and/or matches the area code of a number on the customer's account. In example a wireless telephone number is assigned to a vehicle telematics unit from an inventory of available wireless telephone numbers by querying the inventory to identify the wireless telephone number that matches one or more of the customer's home rate center, customer's NPA, customer's NXX, and customer's overlay NPA information based on a plurality of predetermined conditions.

The telematics unit is adapted for attachment to the vehicle and is configured to communicatively connect to a necessary sub-system of the vehicle, to receive telecommunications from a user through the antenna, and to disable the necessary sub-system in response to receiving an instruction from the user to disable the vehicle.

    摘要: An automated method for remotely changing the mobile number (MDN or MIN) of a wireless communications device, such as a vehicle communications device capable of making hands-free calls. Generally, some wireless carriers do not allow multiple mobile numbers to be simultaneously activated to a single wireless communications device. Therefore, when a mobile number change request is made, the automated method determines what type of process is most appropriate for that change: an indirect change process that uses at least three mobile numbers (current, intermediate, and target numbers) and addresses the above-mentioned wireless carrier limitations, or a direct change process that uses only two mobile numbers (current and target numbers). In either case, a wireless data link is established between a call center and the vehicle communications device so that the remote number change can be performed.

    摘要: The described system and apparatus facilitate the identification, on a per rate center (Npa Nxx) basis, of a best carrier rate center for a wireless subscriber, and also allow detection of errors in a provider's local inventory or in performance reference data. In one aspect, carrier performance data is combined with updated available inventory data via a SIT environment to create a correlated array of rate centers relative to service record and orderable carrier rate center inventory. The described system thus provides improved ordering and forecasting compared to existing systems, and can thus also provide enhanced customer satisfaction and a decrease in customer calls for HFC number change.
