Abstract:
A method of inserting a bushing into a collar in an opening of a container. The bushing has a thickened portion which engages the collar and a bottle neck shaped outer portion with a radially extending outwardly flanged edge adapted to be bent over the free edge of the collar to tightly grip it, preventing relative rotation. The method includes pushing the bushing into the collar so that its base engages the interior of the base of the collar and the bushing outer portion extends beyond the collar free edge and applying pressure radially outwardly on the inner surface of the bottle neck portion to bend the flanged edge toward the collar free edge.
Abstract:
A container having a lid which extends, with a reversed, channel-shaped edge, over the upper edge of the container which is open at the top, and is attached to the outer wall of the container with the outer leg of the reversed, channel-shaped edge. The outer leg is provided with a number of peripheral openings which fit over a number of radially extending projections of the upper edge of the container. The outer leg is radially confined by a thickened portion, ridge or similar projecting part on each projection and axially by the projection themselves. Both the lid and container are made of a synthetic material.
Abstract:
A steel surface pre-treated with an oily material and a phosphating agent in which the surface is (a) first coated with up to 50 milligrams phosphating agent per square meter of surface, and then the oily material is coated on the surface; or (b) the phosphating agent and oily material are simultaneously coated on the surface to provide up to 50 milligrams of phosphating agent per square meter of surface and at least 150 milligrams of oily material per meter of surface; or (c) the phosphating agent and oily material are simultaneously coated on the surface to provide up to 150 milligrams of oily material per square meter of surface.
Abstract:
This application involves a method of forming spiral sheet metal seams of the type that are required between the side walls and ends of a steel drum. The seam is made in a spiral having a seal in its heart. The sheets which define the spiral are in mutual contact for the full length of at least one of them.
Abstract:
A container with lid, both made of synthetic material, the lid being adapted to grip with a reversed channel-shaped edge the upper rim of the container and being attached with the outer leg of said edge to the outside wall of the container in a manner such that it cannot be readily detached therefrom. The outer leg is provided on the inside thereof above the joint with a peripheral groove on a wall portion having a reduced thickness and/or the outer wall of the container is provided with a circumferential groove facing the outer leg of the lid. For opening the container there is provided a tool consisting of a knife provided at one end with a flat head portion and at the other end with a grip in planes perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the cutting edge of the knife.
