    Abstract: A compression lens assembly is disclosed that includes one or more pieces of optical film with a top edge defining an X-axis, a bottom edge, a left edge defining a Y-axis, a right edge at a distance W from the left edge, and a Z-axis perpendicular to the X- and Y-axes. One or more parallel inward and or outward folds extend between the top and bottom edges. The compression lens assembly may include a lens containment feature with top and bottom channels configured to engagingly secure and restrict the corresponding top and bottom edges of the film in at least the Z-axis direction, and left and right channels spaced a distance smaller than W and configured to compress the left and right film edges together and restrict film movement in the X-axis direction. The compressed film piece may form one or more hill or valley profiles between adjacent folds.

    Abstract: In an example embodiment, a light fixture is provided that includes an enclosure with an aperture plane and two or more linear light emitting diode (LED) arrays configured to mount within the enclosure on LED array mounting features that are oriented at an angle between about 80 degrees and about 135 degrees relative to a back surface plane of the enclosure. The light fixture may further include a lens with an axis of symmetry defining two opposing lens halves that define substantially planar outer portions and curved inner portions. The two lens halves may be configured to intersect or join in proximity to the axis of symmetry that is disposed parallel, and above or in proximity to the two or more linear LED arrays. The outer edges of the substantially planar outer lens portions are disposed in proximity to opposing edges of the aperture plane of the enclosure.

    Abstract: In an example embodiment of the disclosed technology, a modular pod lighting system for plants may comprise a light containment enclosure, which may further comprise a light panel with one side configured to emit light, wherein the light panel may be configured to hang from an above structural element in a relatively horizontal orientation. The modular pod lighting system for plants may further comprise side reflection curtains attached to opposing edges of the light panel, wherein the reflection curtains may extend downwards away from the light panel. The light containment enclosure may be configured to partially enclose plants therein, and wherein light emitted from the light panel may be partially contained and recycled within the light containment enclosure.     Abstract: Certain example implementations of the disclosed technology include a light emitting device. The light emitting device may include an enclosure with four sides and a top edge surface associated with each of the four sides. The enclosure may be capable of mounting on a grid frame of a suspended ceiling such that a portion of the top edge surfaces contacts a portion of the grid frame. The light emitting device may further include a light modifying element characterized by a substrate with four or more edges, a back surface disposed on the top edge surface of each of the four sides of the enclosure, and a front surface. In certain example embodiments the substrate may further comprise two or more edge trusses. A periphery of the light-emitting front surface may be capable of contacting the grid frame after the light emitting device is mounted to the grid frame.

    Abstract: According to one implementation of the disclosed technology, a lens is provided. The lens includes one or more pieces of optical film configured for attaching to and modifying light from a light emitting device. The one or more pieces of optical film define: a lens aperture; a front light-emitting side of the lens; a back light-receiving side of the lens; and two or more edge trusses. The edge trusses are disposed towards the back light-receiving side of the lens.
