Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to systems for obtaining a pharmaceutically acceptable immunoglobulin from blood of a donor comprising a first conduit configured to convey blood from the donor to a substrate, wherein said blood includes at least one first component and at least one second component, said first component of the blood including immunoglobulin, and wherein said substrate is adapted to bind immunoglobulin; and a second conduit configured to convey at least a portion of the second component of the blood from the first conduit to the donor.

Abstract:
A device for exercising at least one structure associated with a foot has a first member positionable under the toes of a foot, and an attachment member connectable to the patient above the foot. The attachment member is operably connected to the first member by a first line connected to the attachment member and the first member. The device also includes a spacer connected to the first member and the attachment member. The spacer is for retaining the attachment member in position relative to the first member. Pulling the first line applies pressure to the toes and stretches the structure.
Abstract:
A device for exercising the plantar fascia has a first member positionable under the ball of a foot, and a second member positionable under the toes of the foot. A third member having an eye attaches to the ankle. A first line extends from the first member and a second line extends from the second member and through the eye at the ankle. By pulling on the first and second lines, the plantar fascia is stretched.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of the level of certain cytokines in a patient's blood as an objective measure for the purpose of assessing disease progression in patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and for the purpose of determining therapeutic effectiveness of a treatment regimen. Methods for treating Alzheimer's disease and monitoring therapeutic effectiveness are provided.
Abstract:
A pliable single use liquid container and dispensing device for delivery of a precise amount of orally administered liquids across a broad range of viscosities is provide with the container being formed of generally opposed pliable sheets, a first seal joining the first and second pliable sheets and partially defining a liquid-containing chamber, a second seal joining the first and second pliable sheets and partially defining a pressure relieving chamber adjacent to the liquid-containing chamber, a boundary seal joining the first and second pliable sheets between the liquid-containing chamber and the pressure relieving chamber, a precisely measured single dose volume of fluent liquid disposed within the liquid-containing chamber, the boundary seal being lighter than the first and second seals so that upon application of pressure to the liquid in the liquid-containing chamber the fluid transfer region seal opens to permit the liquid to flow from the liquid-containing chamber into the pressure relieving chamber, a sealed outlet adapted for fluid communication with the pressure relieving chamber for flow of the liquid from the pressure relieving chamber out of the liquid container and sized based on the viscosity of the liquid and the geometry of the dispensing device, the outlet seal adapted to open upon application of fluid pressure from liquid in the pressure relieving chamber for dispensing the liquid from the liquid container and prevent spilling and splashing of the liquid prior to delivery, control the delivery rate of the liquid to the recipient, and provide tactile force flow rate information feedback to the administrator.
Abstract:
To prevent ice build up around the door of a walk in freezer a heater is provided under the threshold of the door to heat a column of air between the inner surface of the door and the flexible thermal barrier inside the freezer. The heater is operated continuously regardless of whether the door is open or closed to maintain the surfaces around the door, and the thermal barrier, at above freezing temperatures.
