    摘要: The invention provides compounds and methods, for example, to carry out organocatalytic Michael additions of aldehydes to cyclically constrained nitroethylene compounds catalyzed by a proline derivative to provide cyclically constrained α-substituted-γ-nitro-aldehydes. The reaction can be rendered enantioselective when a chiral pyrrolidine catalyst is used, allowing for Michael adducts in nearly optically pure form (e.g., 96 to >99% e.e.).The Michael adducts can bear a single substituent or dual substituents adjacent to the carbonyl. The Michael adducts can be efficiently converted to cyclically constrained protected γ-amino acid residues, which are essential for systematic conformational studies of γ-peptide foldamers. New methods are also provided to prepare other γ-amino acids and peptides. These new building blocks can be used to prepare foldamers, such as α/γ-peptide foldamers, that adopt specific helical conformations in solution and in the solid state.

The disclosed magic size nanoclusters have both spectrally narrow fluorescence and ultra-high quantum efficiencies. The yield of magic size nanoclusters can be increased by using anion sources enriched for secondary phosphines. The use of enriched secondary phosphine anion sources also increases the yield of quantum nanostructures.

    摘要: Link adaptive retransmission techniques are provided for use in connection with wireless communications between a first wireless communication device and a second wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device generates M packet error information values for the transmit session of a packet based on whether an acknowledgment message or a non-acknowledgment message is received from the second wireless communication device for a transmission and for previously sent transmissions even if less than M transmissions are sent by the first wireless communication device to the second wireless communication device upon completion of the transmit session. The first wireless communication device computes a retransmission fading margin based on the M packet error information values, from which an effective carrier-to-interference-plus-noise ratio is derived for selection of a modulation scheme.

    摘要: Techniques are provided to improve wireless beamformed communication between first and second wireless communication devices. At a plurality of antennas of the first wireless communication device (e.g., a base station) uplink transmissions sent from the second wireless communication device (e.g., a client or mobile device or station) are received. The first wireless communication device generates a downlink beamforming weight vector from received uplink transmissions, and computes a covariance matrix for received uplink transmissions. The first wireless communication device stores history information based on the covariance matrices for received uplink transmissions. The first wireless communication device computes first and second beamforming-space time code weight vectors based on the covariance matrix for an uplink transmission received in a current frame and the history information. The first wireless communication device uses the first and second beamforming-space time code weight vectors for a beamforming-space time code transmission technique to send a downlink transmission to the second wireless communication device.

    摘要: Interference in an unlicensed frequency band is spatially filtered out from received signals at a wireless device operating in the unlicensed frequency band. Energy received at a plurality of antennas of the wireless is device is analyzed to detect interference in the unlicensed frequency band. The detected interference is classified by type. Parameters for a nulling filter are generated or selected based on the type of interference detected in the received energy. During a time interval when it is expected to receive desired signals, the nulling filter is applied using the parameters to signals obtained from energy received at the plurality of antennas during the time interval.

    摘要: Techniques are provided for improving performance of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication system. At a first wireless communication device (e.g., a base station) having a plurality of antennas, uplink transmissions are received from a second wireless communication device (e.g., a client device). The base station determines a measure of multipath conditions between it and the second wireless communication device based on the received uplink transmissions. The base station applies downlink beamforming weight vectors together with power balance and phase adjustment factors depending on the measure of multipath conditions to transmit multiple downlink data streams across the plurality of antennas simultaneously to the second wireless communication device.

    摘要: A hybrid time-spatial multiplexing technique is provided for beamforming broadcast messages to mobile stations that may be within a coverage region or cell of a base station. The coverage region is divided into a plurality of segments. The mobile stations are assigned to at least one of the segments based on their locations within the coverage region or other criteria. The base station computes beamforming antenna weights which are configured to produce a radiation beam pattern from a plurality of antennas of the base station to respective ones of each of the plurality of segments in the region. A broadcast message is transmitted to each segment of the region in a time-division multiplexed manner using the beamforming antenna weights associated with the radiation beam pattern for the corresponding segment.

The method comprises receiving a plurality of signals by a first mobile station, the plurality of signals being transmitted from antennas on a second mobile station, computing a plurality of beamforming weighting vectors from the received plurality of signals, calculating a pre-coding parameter matrix for a beamformed MIMO channel between the first and second mobile stations using the plurality of beamforming weighting vectors and the plurality of signals, determining a normalized transmitting power distribution for data streams transmitted via the beamformed MIMO channel, allocating transmitting power to the beamformed MIMO channel, wherein the data streams are transmitted via the beamformed MIMO channel having an optimized transmitting power distribution.
