摘要： A plastic pallet comprising an upper plastic sheet and a lower plastic sheet. The lower sheet has a generally rectangular configuration, including sidewalls and end walls, and includes a plurality of separate parallel upwardly opening longitudinally extending U-shaped grooves extending from end to end of the sheet and a plurality of downwardly opening U-shaped grooves interspersed between the upwardly opening grooves and opening in the end walls of the sheet. The upper sheet defines a top wall and a plurality of upwardly opening U-shaped protrusions extending downwardly from the top wall and sized to nest within the upwardly opening grooves of the lower sheet, whereby the sheets may be fused together to form double thickness U-shaped wall structures at the interfaces of the protrusions and the upwardly opening grooves. The pallet further includes a pair of longitudinally extending metallic beams positioned between the upper and lower sheets.

摘要： A plastic twin sheet pallet and a method of forming the pallet. The pallet includes an upper plastic sheet and a lower plastic sheet selectively fused together to form a generally rectangular pallet having an upper platform structure. The pallet further includes a metallic support structure positioned beneath the platform structure between the upper and lower sheets and including a plurality of beam members arranged end to end in a rectangular frame configuration with each beam member generally parallel to and spaced inboard from the respective outer edge of the pallet. The pallet further includes a peripheral groove structure opening upwardly in the platform structure between each beam member and the respective outer edge of the pallet. The pallet defines a peripheral groove structure opening upwardly in the platform structure between each beam member and their respective outer edge of the pallet. With the lower sheet in a heated state the beam members are positioned in upwardly opening channels defined in the lower sheet with beveled ends of the beam members positioned end to end but in spaced relation, whereafter a thermoformed upper sheet is fused to the lower sheet to encapsulate the beam members between the sheets. As the resulting pallet cools and shrinks the end to end and side to side shrinkage of the pallet brings the beveled ends of the beam members together to form a continuous rectangular frame configuration firmly imbedded within the pallet. The pallet further includes reinforcing rods embedded in rectangular configuration in the lower footprint face of the pallet to augment the reinforcing action of the beam members.

摘要： A method and apparatus for forming twin sheet hollow plastic articles such as plastic pallets. A pair of plastic sheets is delivered directly from an extruder and loaded directly into a pair of clamping frames. The sheets are then moved in the clamping frames into an oven where the sheets are heated, whereafter the sheets are transferred to a hot forming station where the sheets are formed into a pallet. This pallet is then transferred to a cold forming station where further processing of the pallet takes place, and then to an unloading station where the finished pallet is removed and a new set of plastic sheets from the extruder is loaded into the clamping frames. At the hot forming station the sheets are delivered in side by side relation on the sheet plane with one sheet overlying a female mold and the other sheet underlying a male mold, the sheets are molded respectively and simultaneously to the male and female molds, the female mold is shifted laterally to a position underlying the male mold, and the molds are brought together to fuse selected portions on the sheet carried by the male mold to selected portions on the sheet carried by the female mold to form the twin sheet pallet. The cold forming station includes male and female molds, corresponding generally to the male and female molds of the hot forming station, which reengage the pallet and provide further forming and curing of the pallet as a new pallet is formed at the hot forming station utilizing a new set of plastic sheets.

The panel structure is formed by thermoforming an upper plastic sheet to include rows of hollow bosses extending downwardly from the main body of the sheet; thermoforming a lower plastic sheet to include rows of hollow bosses extending upwardly from the main body portion of the sheet; and bringing the sheets together while still in a heated flowable state to position the bosses of the upper sheet in intermeshing relation to the bosses of the lower sheet so that the annular side wall portions of the upper and lower bosses fuse together, the bottom walls of the upper sheet bosses are fused to the upper surface of the main body portion of the lower sheet, and the upper walls of the lower sheet bosses are fused to the lower surface of the main body portion of the upper sheet to form a series of parallel rigid column structures between the sheets. In the case of the pallet, the fused together upper and lower sheets coact to define a platform structure for the pallet and the upper and lower sheets further coact to define a plurality of legs extending downwardly from the platform structure to position the platform structure in spaced relation to a support surface.

摘要： A reinforced plastic pallet comprises a twin sheet deck structure and three twin sheet runner structures which are fused to the underside of the deck to create three parallel spaced-apart footprints, the spacing between them forming one set of forklift openings. The deck is fabricated from two thermoformed plastic sheets which are peripherally joined together. The lower sheet is formed with upwardly extending spacer knobs which are fused to the under surface of the top sheet to further join the two sheets together. A frame of reinforcing beams is encapsulated into the interior space of the upper deck. The runner structures are also of twin sheet construction and some of them contain reinforcing rods. The runner structures, although they have flat footprints, are generally “W” shaped to provide two additional forklift openings at 90° from the primary forklift openings between the runner structures.

摘要： A container including a rigid plastic pallet having a platform portion defining a central discharge port, a tubular cardboard sleeve supported at a lower edge thereof on the pallet, and a flexible plastic liner positioned within the sleeve. The liner includes an upper portion of uniform cross-sectional configuration conforming to the cross-sectional configuration of the sleeve and a lower portion of downwardly and inwardly tapering configuration terminating in a bottom liner opening positioned proximate the pallet discharge port. The effective combined height of the upper and lower portions of the liner, with the upper edge of the upper liner portion secured to the upper edge of the sleeve, is greater than the distance from the upper edge of the sleeve to the upper face of the pallet so that the sides of the lower portion may bulge outwardly in response to the loading of contents into the liner to at least partially fill the annular void defined between the sleeve and the lower portion of the liner with the liner fully extended. The pallet port is selectively closed by a trap door pivotedly mounted on the pallet. 摘要： A divider for use in handling quantities of yarn spools arranged in layers. The divider includes a main body generally planar polygonal portion and a skirt portion extending around the periphery of the main body portion and formed into a series of circumferentially spaced, arcuate, inwardly opening scallops with each scallop having a curvature substantially matching the curvature of the yarn spools so that, with a layer of spools positioned on the main body portion and the skirt upstanding from the main body portion, each scallop may compliantly engage the outer periphery of an individual outer spool of the spool layer. Each scallop is connected to the main body portion by a strap extending from the main body portion to the scallop and the scallops are connected together to form a continuous circumferential band. Sockets are provided in the main body portion to accommodate the upper or lower ends of the tubes of the yarn spools and a plastic wrap is stretched around the yarn package to enhance the compliance of the scallops to the spools.

摘要： A method and apparatus for handling mass produced articles utilizing a rack including a base structure and spaced left and right leaf assemblies. Each leaf assembly includes a plurality of leaf sections positioned in serial relation along the base between the base ends with each leaf section hinged at a lower edge thereof to the base along a lateral hinge axis in generally parallel spaced relation to the hinge axes of adjacent leaf sections. The left and right leaf assemblies are spaced laterally to define a central corridor therebetween extending between the base ends to allow movement of a worker carrying an article down the corridor. The spaced left and right leaf assemblies define a plurality of leaf sets with each set including a leaf section from the left leaf assembly and a corresponding, aligned leaf section from the right leaf assembly. In use, with the leaf sections of the first leaf set positioned in a forwardly angled position, an article is loaded onto the rear face of the first leaf set, the next adjacent leaf set is pivoted to a position in overlying relation to the first leaf set to sandwich the article therebetween, whereafter a further article is positioned on the rear face of the second leaf set, a third leaf is pivoted to a position to sandwich the article on the second leaf set between the second and third leaf sets, and the process is repeated until all of the leaf sets have been pivoted forwardly with an article positioned between each successive set of leaves.
