Abstract:
WHEREIN EACH R represents either a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having from one to five carbon atoms and wherein n is an integer from 1 to 3. These compounds are initially substantially colorless and are capable of becoming highly colored when brought into reactive contact with many conventional Lewis acid materials and the like. Accordingly these compounds are highly useful as a component of pressure-sensitive copying papers.
Disclosed are normally substantially colorless chromogenic 9-(4aminophenyl polymethine)-9-xanthenol color precursor compounds having the following structural formula:
Abstract:
A hot melt, water remoistenable adhesive composition containing a water sensitive vinyl pyrrolidone-vinyl acetate copolymer, a plasticizer material which may include two different components, one of which operates as an adhesion promoter, and a wax component selected from the group consisting of Hoechst Wax S, peat wax, lignite wax and Castorwax. The composition may also include, in its preferred form, an antioxidant, an anti-block ingredient and/or a taste improving material.
Abstract:
A manifold assembly comprising a plurality of series-connected envelopes, each having front and back panels with insert material within each envelope, means for securing the panels together to form an envelope pocket for the insert material, means for opening the envelope, one marginal edge of the insert material being attached to the panels by means of spaced connecting ties lying parallel to the direction of extraction of the insert material during the opening of the envelope.
Abstract:
In an ink train of printing press rolls, means for oscillating the central distribution roll thereof along its rotation axis includes an offset groove defining an inner race on the central roll axle, ring means having an annular groove therein defining an outer race and facing the offset groove, the ring means being mounted for rotation about the central roll axle, a ball member located between the inner and outer races, means rotating the ring means at a first rate of rotation and means rotating the central roll axle at a second rate of rotation different from the first rotational rate whereby the central roll is oscillated along its rotation axis within a wide range of oscillation ratios as the ball member both rotates and revolves about the central roll axle.
Abstract:
Record material for forming a durable image with a basic dye or dye precursor compound, preferably colorless, characterized by the presence on an absorbent surface thereof of a heteropolyacid reactive with the dye compound to form a colored ''''lake'''' or complex and a dialkyl tartrate containing about three to six carbon atoms in the alkyl groups thereof. Preferably, the heteropolyacid and dialkyl tartrate are contained in a clay-based surface coating in an amount of about 2-25 percent by dry coating weight of each. The dye compound can be applied to the record material from a transfer sheet carrying the same in an appropriate pressure-releasable state, for example, within microcapsules adhered as a layer on the sheet, and transfer sheets of this character can be manifolded with the present record material to form a pressure-sensitive record system.
Abstract:
THE TRACTOR TYPE OF PIN-FEED DEVICE FOR FEEDING MARGINALLY PREFORATED PAPER WEBS SUCH AS CONTINUOUS BUSINESS FORMS TO, FORM, OR THOROUGH IMPRINTING OR HANDLING MACHINES, PRESENTS PERCULIARLY CONFIGURED ENDLESS BELTS, PINCARRYING ELEMENTS OR CLIPS, AND DRIVE SPROCKETS THEREFOR. THE PIN ELEMENTS ARE DETACHABLE FROM THE ENDLESS BELT AND ARE PREFERABLY MADE OF PLASTIC ALTHOUGH FOR SOME PURPOSES METAL MAY BE USED. A SERIES OF TRANSVERSE RIBS ARE PRO-
VIDED ALONG THE BELT, ALTERNATE ONES OF WHICH ARE SPACED FOR INTERLOCKING ENGAGEMENT WITH TRANSVERSE NOTCHES OR RECESSES FORMED ON THE RESPECTIVE PIN ELEMENTS. SUBSTANTIALLY COINCIDENTALLY WITH THESE NOTCHES, THE PIN ELEMENTS ARE THEMSELVES PROVIDED WITH DOWNWARDLY PROJECTING TRANSVERSELY DISPOSED RIB PORTIONS OF PROTUBERANCES.
Abstract:
D R A W I N G THIS INVENTION PROVIDES A NEW WAY OF ATTACHING CARBONLESS COPYING SHEETS IN LAYERED ASSEMBLY, EACH SHEET EXCEPT ONE OUTER SHEET HAVING A COATING ON ONE SIDE. THE ATTACHMENT IS BY ADHESIVE APPLIED TO AN UNCOATED SURFACE OF ONE OUTER SHEET AND THE JOINING OF IT WITH AN UNCOATED SURFACE OF THE OTHER OUTER SHEET BY AN APPROPRIATE STRUCTURE TO GET A SECURE ADHESIVE BOND TO HOLD THE SHEETS IN ASSEMBLED RELATIONSHIP.
