According to the invention, a means is provided for defect identification (13) for the belt drive (3), with the means for defect identification (13) being provided at least for comparison of at least one actual value (51) with at least one nominal value (52), and with the actual value (51) and the nominal value (52) being a variable which is dependent on the electric current in the electrical machine (3). Defect identification of a belt drive (2) can thus be achieved in a simple manner.
