摘要： A data communication system for use in the control and monitoring of mobile stations, for example, in a bus monitoring system, from a central station over a communication channel carrying both data and voice information. Information is encoded into digital messages having a start code followed by one or more data blocks. The start code identifies the beginning of the data block that follows and enables synchronization of clock circuitry to the received data frequency. The data blocks have N digital words with M binary bits where one word is a parity word and N-1 words are data words. Each of the data words has a data portion and parity portion coded for correction of at least one error. Reliability is enhanced by a data detector which discriminates between data and noise or voice to provide an indication of the presence of data. In transmitting the digital messages, the bits of the N words in each data block are interleaved to provide protection against error bursts.

摘要： A radio telephone interface apparatus for speed dialing any of a plurality of stored sequences of digits forming telephone numbers. Pre-stored telephone numbers are stored in an electronic memory. Actuation of switches permits either sequential access to each of the stored telephone numbers or direct, nonsequential access to a desired set of stored telephone numbers. When the telephone numbers are sequentially access, mneumonic information associated with each one of the telephone numbers is provided to a voice synthesizer to provide an aural indication of the telephone numbers stored within individual ones of the directory locations.

摘要： A unique cellular telephone (500) includes audio circuit 502, microcomputer (508), indicators (506) and (507), cellular telephone transceiver (519), and keypad controller (504) for controlling the operating modes thereof and automatically placing and receiving cellular telephone calls dialed in any pattern. The keypad includes numerical keys (0-9, # and *) and function keys (MEM and END/CLEAR) for entering digits of telephone number and key sequences for selecting operating modes. Power is applied to the cellular telephone transceiver (519) in response to concurrent activation of at least two keys. Each telephone number digit is detected and accumulated by microcomputer (508) and, after a pause of four seconds, the accumulated digits are sent via a data bus (511) to cellular telephone transceiver (519) for placing a telephone call. The call is subsequently terminated when the END key is activated or an END command is received by the cellular telephone transceiver (519). Thereafter, power to the cellular telephone transceiver (519) may be turned off in response to activation of the MEM-END key sequence.

摘要： A multiplexed synchronous/asynchronous data bus uses three communications lines (T, C, R) to convey bi-directional synchronous data between two data devices at a relatively low data transfer rate. The data bus is configured as a full-duplex asynchronous data bus by communicating a false address between the two data devices on two communications lines (T, C) using the synchronous data bus, holding the two communications lines (T, C) in a logic high state for a period of time, and continuing to hold one of the two communications lines (C) in the logic high state during full-duplex asynchronous communication. Full-duplex asynchronous data can then communicated between the two data devices at a higher data transfer rate on two of the three communications lines (T, R).
