Abstract:
A hybrid cloud integrator provides a capability for integrating data processing resources provided as services across a hybrid cloud. The hybrid cloud integrator includes a software framework that provides for installing, configuring, activating, and controlling operation of a number of plug-in software components. The plug-in software components are configured to provide for using data processing resources provided as a service to process a consumer workload.
Abstract:
Methods are described for calibrating a turning machine having a first rotatable portion or chuck for holding a workpiece. The first rotatable portion has a first feature associated therewith. The method comprises the steps of using a measurement probe to determine the position of the first feature, rotating the first rotatable portion through an angle, and using said measurement probe to determine the new position of the first feature. The extension of the technique to swivel head mill-turn machines is also described.
Abstract:
The present disclosure introduces modular apparatuses for mechanical devices. In one embodiment, a chain joint is described. The chain joint may include a rotating drum having an attachment point. Further, the chain joint may also include hydraulic cylinders connected to the rotating drum. Lengths of chain may be used to connect the hydraulic cylinders to the rotating drum via the attachment point. Another embodiment describes a robotic apparatus incorporating the chain joint. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
A vent valve made from a standard emergency brake valve portion. It includes an emergency portion body with an interface to be mated with the emergency portion interface of the pipe bracket. The body includes a casting with at least one cover and the casting including all the cast cavities and passages for an emergency portion. A vent valve selectively connects a first brake pipe port to a vent port on the body, A vent piston controls the vent valve and a discharge valve pneumatically controls the vent piston. An emergency piston is responsive to brake pipe pressure for controlling the discharge valve. The body does not include at least one of an inshot valve and an accelerated application valve.
Abstract:
Systems for removing or attenuating friction and/or click noise generated during writing with a smart pen are disclosed. In a smart pen, the writing cartridge is biased towards a first side of the smart pen internal cavity by a low-force biasing system without affecting writing cartridge movement. For example, the writing cartridge is comprised of a magnetic material and a magnet is embedded into the first side of the smart pen internal cavity to bias the writing cartridge towards the first side. Alternatively, the material comprising the writing cartridge or smart pen internal cavity is modified, reducing friction between the components. As another alternative, a DSP method identifies analyzes one or more parameters of received audio data to differentiate click noise from audio data, and may receive data from a movement sensor indicating when the writing cartridge has moved to reduce power consumption for identifying click noise.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method comprising injecting into a thin wall disposable core die a slurry having a viscosity of about 1 to about 1,000 Pascal-seconds at room temperature when tested at a shear rate of up to 70 seconds−1 and a flow index of less than 0.6 at a pressure of up to about 7 kilograms-force per square centimeter; wherein the thin wall disposable core die has an average wall thickness of about 1.5 to about 10 millimeters; curing the slurry to form a cured ceramic core; removing the thin wall disposable core die from the cured ceramic core; and firing the cured ceramic core to form a solidified ceramic core.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a layered ammonia oxidation catalyst. The layered catalyst causes ammonia to be selectively oxidized in the presence of an oxidant such as air, while minimizing the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The layered catalyst comprises a refractory oxide support such as gamma alumina upon which a platinum component is deposited and a vanadia component is deposited on the platinum. The catalyst is preferably disposed on a substrate such as a metal foil whose surface contains a “herringbone” pattern.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a composite core die comprising a reusable core die; and a disposable core die; wherein the disposable core die is in physical communication with the reusable core die; and further wherein surfaces of communication between the disposable core die and the reusable core die serve as barriers to prevent the leakage of a slurry that is disposed in the composite core die.
Abstract:
An integrated system organizes a company's experiences, operating procedures, best practices, information sources, competitive information and analytical tools. The goal is increasing profitability within a due diligence process while facilitating ongoing operations. The system incorporates a method for collaborating on due diligence issues to affect knowledge building within due diligence teams. The method includes accessing stored, accumulated knowledge in a repository from prior due diligence exercises, applying to due diligence decisions criteria based on consolidated analytical building blocks of past due diligence exercises and storing newly accumulated knowledge from the current due diligence exercise into the repository of accumulated knowledge. Access to this information is available globally via the internet as well as locally.
