Abstract:
A shaving razor that offers a closer shave is provided. The shaving razor can include a biasing member producing a progressively increasing return torque on the razor cartridge that forces the cartridge into flat contact with the skin as the cartridge pivots, thus improving glide and shaving closeness. In addition, the shaving razor can include a razor handle configuration that reduces the propensity for the shaving razor to roll in a user's hand and improves the maneuverability of the razor cartridge during shaving.
Abstract:
A razor blade assembly having a razor cartridge connected to a handle via a pivoting mechanism. The razor cartridge rotates about a virtual pivot axis produced by the pivoting mechanism. The virtual pivot axis is positioned in a virtual pivot axis region located forward of the cartridge midpoint toward the front edge of the cartridge and into the skin.
Abstract:
A razor cartridge has a housing, a guard located at a front of the housing and a cap located at a rear of the housing. A skin contact element is disposed in the housing partway between the guard and the cap. A skin contact plane defines a plane tangential to the guard and the skin contact element and a plane tangential to the skin contact element and the cap. One or more blades are located between the guard and the skin contact element, each of the blades having a cutting edge located at a distance y1 between 70 μm and 300 μm and at an angle α1 between 20° and 45° below the skin contact plane. One or more blades are located between the skin contact element and the cap, each of the blades having a cutting edge located at an angle α2 above or below the skin contact plane, wherein α2 is lower in magnitude than α1.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing state of health monitoring and fault diagnostics for a vehicle stability system. The system includes at least one primary sensor and at least one secondary sensor for sensing the operation of at least one vehicle characteristic. The system calculates an estimated output of the primary sensor using at least one estimate model, and generates at least one residual as the difference between a measured output of the primary sensor and the estimated output of the estimate model. The system uses a residual pattern to determine if the primary sensor is faulty. The system compares the measured output of the primary sensor to a measured output of the secondary sensor if the residual is less than a threshold, and determines that the secondary sensor is faulty if the comparison between the measured outputs of the primary and secondary sensors is greater than a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
A method of intercepting the incoming and outgoing calls of a telecommunications subscriber. The call activity of the telecommunications line of the subscriber is monitored by a call processor of a telecommunications switch and predetermined types of call activity are recorded by a recording device. The switch monitors the call activity of a second telecommunications line upon the detection of a predetermined call feature occurring for the subscriber and the recording device records predetermined types of call activity on the second line upon the monitoring of the second line. The switch may also switch, upon the detection of the predetermined call feature, from monitoring the call activity of the subscriber line to monitoring the call activity of the second line. The switch may also switch the recording device from recording the call activity of the subscriber line to recording the call activity of the second line. This may be done by switching the connection of the recording device from the subscriber line to the second line.
Abstract:
The mine support system (26) is typically used in underground coal mines. Support for the hanging wall (40) of the mine is provided by elongate, transversely extending headboards (10) which are supported by spaced apart supports. The supports may take the form of upright mine supports, typically timber props (28) located on the footwall (34) of the mine working, by roof bolts (30) engaging the hanging wall, or by a combination of props and roof bolts. Prestressing grout bags (32) are located on the headboards and bear against the hanging wall. The combination of headboards and bags forms a continuous bridge between the props.

Abstract:
A system and related method for monitoring the state of health of sensors in an integrated vehicle stability control system. In one embodiment, the system determines whether a yaw rate sensor, a lateral acceleration sensor or a hand-wheel angle sensor has failed. The system uses a plurality of models to generate estimates of the outputs of the sensors based on the actual sensor measurements. Residuals are generated as the difference between the measured value and each of the estimates for the particular sensor. The residuals are compared to a threshold to determine whether a fault flag will be set for each residual. The threshold for the hand-wheel angle sensor is an adaptive threshold because it does not have physical redundancy. If the fault flags for the residuals for each sensor have a particular pattern, then a fault is output for that sensor.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for enhancing an immune response in a mammal to facilitate the elimination of a chronic pathology. The method involves the removal of immune system inhibitors such as soluble TNF receptor from the circulation of the mammal, thus, enabling a more vigorous immune response to the pathogenic agent. The removal of immune system inhibitors is accomplished by contacting biological fluids of a mammal with one or more binding partner(s) such as TNFα muteins capable of binding to and, thus, depleting the targeted immune system inhibitor(s) from the biological fluids. Particularly useful in the invention is an absorbent matrix composed of an inert, biocompatible substrate joined covalently to a binding partner, such as a TNFα mutein, capable of specifically binding to a targeted immune system inhibitor such as soluble TNF receptor.
