A method is disclosed for the production of an air-permeable laminate film with a textile surface and elastic and non-elastic regions. At least one film strip that is elastic in the crosswise direction is introduced, as an elastic insert, between two material webs of fiber non-woven fabric having a web width greater than the width of the film strip. The segments of the material webs made of fiber non-woven fabric that are in direct contact next to the insert are connected, forming a non-elastic region of the laminate film. Subsequently, the laminate passes through an ultrasound bonding station, in which the elastic insert is melted by means of point-shaped bonds, while maintaining the substance of the fiber non-woven fabric, thereby connecting the elastic insert with the fiber non-woven fabric cover layers at discrete points and forming air-permeable structures.

An elastic film laminate includes a first film and at least one second film. The first film is elastomeric in at least one direction and can be reversibly stretched by a length &Dgr;lA during a deformation without demonstrating substantial residual deformation &Dgr;la. The second film is made of a deformable plastic connected with the first film in localized connection regions less than the entire length of the first film. The second film has received a permanent deformation &Dgr;lb significantly greater than the residual deformation &Dgr;la, by means of a common deformation by a length &Dgr;lA, so that the second film is permanently deformed between the localized connection regions. In a renewed deformation of the film laminate above a limit range of deformation, where &Dgr;l>&Dgr;lA applies, the second film exhibits a reaction force that causes the tensile force required for further stretching of the laminate to increase suddenly. The tear resistance of the second film is adjusted so that if the tensile force is increased further, stretching of the second film layer by at least 10% of its length is still possible beyond &Dgr;lA before tear.

A monoaxially elastic laminate film is provided with a core layer made of a thermoplastic elastomer and at least one skin layer co-extruded together with the core layer. The skin layer is made of a thermoplastic plastic with a molecular lattice that becomes brittle when it solidifies, so that the plastic stretches only slightly when a stretching force is applied, and breaks without any transition when a pre-determined tear force has been exceeded. After becoming brittle, the molecular lattice is irreversibly broken up by monoaxial stretching in the stretching direction, but is maintained perpendicular to the stretching direction, and thereby reinforces the film in the crosswise direction.

A process for producing an elastic composite film having a textile surface including at least one unwinding fibrous web being irreversibly extended at right angles to its direction of transport. The increase in the width of the fibrous web due to transverse extension is formed into foldlets by pulling tension acting in the direction of transport of the fibrous web. The fibrous web, which is under pulling tension and modified by transverse extension, is applied atop a transversely elastic film web of a thermoplastic elastomer and is adhered or welded thereto at contact sites which are spaced apart at right angles to the direction of transport of the webs.

A method for the production of an elastic, air-permeable laminate film is disclosed, whereby material webs made of a fiber non-woven fabric are applied to both sides of an elastomer layer, and the multi-layered material subsequently runs through an ultrasound bonding station. The elastomer layer is melted to form point-shaped bonds at discrete locations by means of ultrasound, while maintaining the substance of the fiber non-woven fabric. An air-permeable structure is formed at the melted sites. According to the method, a melt film made of a thermoplastic elastomer is passed to a laminating unit and introduced, in the thermoplasticized state, between two material webs of fiber non-woven fabric that run into the laminating unit. The melted intermediate layer of the multi-layered material is cooled to solidification temperature, whereby a laminate with cover layers made of fiber non-woven fabric is produced. The laminate is subsequently passed to the ultrasound bonding station.
