It is desired that only necessary document pages be picked up from an enormous quantity of documents and copied by controlling copying operation on the basis of information designated by a user. For this purpose, a plurality of images are input, each image is segmented into objects, and an object as a search key is set. It is then determined, with respect to each of the plurality of images, whether the objects segmented from the image includes the object as the search key. Images containing the object as the search key are selectively copied out of the plurality of images.

When a document image printed by freely editing and processing image data is to be copied, the user may want to copy the edited/processed image or copy an original image before editing and processing. To meet this demand, a document image is input, and pointer information for specifying the storage location of an original image, and image process information representing whether the input image is attained by editing and processing the original image are extracted from the input image. Priority data information representing which of the input image and original image is used is obtained. When no pointer information is extracted, when the image process information represents that the original image has not been edited or processed, or when the priority data information represents the use of the input image, the input image data is converted into vector data. When the pointer information is extracted, the image process information represents that the original image has been edited and processed, and the priority data information represents the use of the original image, the original image is input on the basis of the pointer information, and an image is formed on the basis of the vector data or original image.

An image processing apparatus includes an analyzing unit configured to analyze an incomplete portion of input image data; and an obtaining unit configured to identify a storage location of original data corresponding to the input image data from the input image data, and to obtain the original data from the storage location. The original data obtained by the obtaining unit is corrected on the basis of a result of analysis by the analyzing unit to generate a complete image, and the complete image is output.

Raster image data is converted into block vector image data corresponding to blocks each having a predetermined size by segmenting the raster image data into the blocks with the predetermined size and executing vectorization processing. The input raster image data is converted into a block vector image. The converted block vector image is stored in a storage means. Transfer of the image data as a processing target in the apparatus is controlled to output the raster image data obtained by rasterizing the stored block vector image data.

An image forming apparatus which is capable of accurately performing a video count process based on image data and thus maintaining the quality of images even where DMA transfer processing is used. An image forming device performs a process using a consumable material. A first controller controls the image forming device. A transfer controller provides control to transfer externally input image data to the first controller. A second controller performs a count process for counting an amount of the consumable material to be consumed based on the image data transferred by the transfer controller. The second controller disables the count process without stopping the transfer by the transfer controller when the process performed by the image forming device is interrupted.

This invention provides an image processing system and image processing method which can promote efficient use of a memory by vectorizing all data of a representative object and, for the same or similar object, referring to the vectorized representative object and using difference data and also convert the same or similar objects at once by editing only the representative object. Input image information is vectorized. The vector data of a representative object is stored. Identity between a target object and the representative object is determined. If the two objects are identical, property information containing information about the reference destination of the vector data of the representative object is stored in place of the vector data of the target object.

The storage process is a process in which when the first storage unit is replaced with a new storage unit, information equivalent to that stored in the first storage unit is stored in the new storage unit.
