    Abstract: The present invention relates to the preparation of a tire (e.g. open torroidal shaped tire) which contains a closed cell cellular rubber within its tire cavity. In one aspect, the cellular rubber is a closed cell cellular rubber composition prepared with an organic peroxide curative with closed cell forming blowing agent. In one aspect, the tire may contain the closed cell cellular rubber under pressure within its tire cavity. In another aspect, the closed cell cellular rubber is formed with a heat profile for the rubber tire casing by utilization of a balance between an organoperoxide and blowing agent to cause a cooperative combination of curing and closed cellular formation of the rubber composition within the tire casing cavity.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a container body side seam construction wherein a metal body blank is provided with adhesive strips along opposite edges thereof, followed by the forming of hooks at such opposite edges. Thereafter, the body blank is formed in a conventional body-making machine so as to first interlock the hooks and then, while the hooks are engaged, flattening the hooks to form an interlocked side seam wherein the adhesive strips are in tightly clamped relation with respect to one another and portions of the side seam. While the adhesive strips are so held, the side seam is heated so as to effect bonding of the adhesive strips. The principal advantage of the container body side seam construction is that no external means is required to hold the side seam portions in their proper positions while the adhesive strips are being heated and then permitted to set.

    Abstract: An AC motorized wheel arrangement includes a wheel frame including a flange for attachment to a truck body; a wheel hub; roller bearings for supporting the wheel hub on the wheel frame; a shaft; an AC motor attached to a portion of the wheel frame facing an inboard side of the wheel for turning the shaft; a transmission attached to a portion of the wheel frame facing an outboard side of the wheel and connected to the shaft and the wheel hub for turning the wheel hub; and a service brake mounted between the wheel frame and the wheel hub. In a ventilation arrangement, two wheel frames are attached to opposite outer sides of and axle box and two alternating current motors are positioned in the axle box with each motor frame attached to one of the wheel frames. The motor frames include holes for permitting air from the axle box to enter the motors, and an air outlet housing is positioned between the two motors for receiving air from the two motors and directing air out a rear opening of the axle box.
