The degradable foam comprises a combination of (i) at least one di- or polyisocyanate, (ii) at least one polysiloxane diol, at least one polysiloxane diamine, or a combination thereof, and (iii) optionally at least one polyol.
Abstract:
A method of controlling operation of a tire filling mixing machine, by: (a) mixing a rubber/polyurethane and a catalyst in a first mixer to form a virgin polyurethane; (b) grinding cured polyurethane core bits in a grinder; (c) mixing the virgin material and the ground material in a second mixer thereby forming a mixed flatproofing material; (d) injecting the mixed flatproofing material into a tire; (e) measuring the ratio of ground material to virgin material in the mixed flatproofing material; (f) comparing the measured ratio of ground material to virgin material to a pre-stored preferred ratio of ground material to virgin material; and (g) increasing or decreasing the relative percentages of virgin material and ground material entering the second mixer by an amount that is a fraction of the difference between the measured ratio and the pre-stored preferred ratio.
Abstract:

Also, a method for producing such a mounted assembly. A mounted assembly includes a tire mounted on a rim, having a tread designed to come into contact with a ground, two sidewalls extending radially inwards from the ends of the tread, and two beads extending the sidewalls radially inwards and in contact with the rim, an internal cavity containing a filling component consisting of at least one incompressible solid element, and which is a granular filling component consisting of granules at least partly separated from one another by interstices containing at least gas, and the fill rate, which is the ratio between the total volume of the granules, the total of the elementary volumes of the granules, and the volume of the internal cavity, is at least equal to 0.8.
Abstract:
A tire having a core located in a tire cavity and a cured and foamed elastomeric material located in the tire cavity adjacent the core. The core is made of a solid material, a precured and foamed elastomeric material or a hollow rigid structure. The core may be a single piece or fabricated from multiple pieces.
Abstract:
A wheel, preferably adaptable for use with a skate, is provided having a semi-permanent stiffness-modulating insert. The wheel comprises a toroidal wheel component having a hollow toroidal core which can be filled with a stiffness-modulating material. The wheel is split along a line from the inner circumference of the toroidal wheel component to the inner circumference of the core so as to allow for insertion of the stiffness-modulating material. The toroidal wheel component is preferably molded with the split edges slightly spaced apart from each other. In use the edges are held together in abutment with each other or with a toroidal spacer placed between them, preferably by wheel hubs engaging with each other and with the toroidal wheel component of the wheel.
Abstract:
This invention is a composite cellular tire insert for insertion into the interior of pneumatic type tires to eliminate flats and blow-outs. The composite cellular tire insert is comprised of a multiplicity of preconstructed, hollow, pressurized, elastomeric, one-piece, seamless cells bonded together into a configuration whereby substantially all of the exterior cell wall surface of all cells in the tire insert, is engaged with portions of exterior cell wall surfaces of surrounding cells thereby providing a cellular tire insert that has substantially no void space or material mass between the cells.
Abstract:
A non-cross-linked or partly cross-linked triaryl-s-triazine ring containing polymer or copolymer is prepared by cyclopolymerizing an aromatic nitrile-modified oligomer or precursor in the presence of excess molar amounts of aromatic nitrile at temperatures above 100.degree. C. to provide a non-cross-linked triaryl-s-triazine extended chain structure. The excess moles of aromatic nitriles above that required to endcap the oligomer results in an extended chain structure. The polymers are useful as a matrix laminating resin in composites containing carbon fibers and similar refractory filler materials to produce desirable refractory materials exhibiting thermal-oxidative stability at elevated temperatures.
Abstract:
A consolidated, rubber article such as a filler segment for composite solid rubber tires is made by reducing solid rubber articles to small pieces, placing the pieces in a mold having the configuration of the desired tire filler segment, and heating the pieces in the mold while applying pressure thereto. The mold assembly includes a filling chamber and a releasably attachable mold body. A press block fits slidably in the filling chamber and is operable to compress the rubber pieces into the mold. The press block then is locked to the mold body to close the mold, whereby the mold body and press block may be separated from the filling chamber while maintaining the closure. The pieces in the mold body are then heated, while compressed, sufficiently to consolidate the mold contents into a tire filler segment having a density of from 15 to 75 pounds per cubic foot. The consolidated product is then cooled and removed from the mold. The vehicle tire product comprises a tire casing and within the casing a filler comprising abutting segments made from the molded and consolidated rubber pieces aforesaid.
Abstract:
A deflation-proof pneumatic tire comprises a casing and a substantially void-free, preferably oil-containing elastomeric filling material. The tire casing is injected with a combination comprising a polyol, an organic polyisocyanate and water, in amounts and under conditions sufficient to produce carbon dioxide and form a polyurea-containing polyurethane elastomer in which the carbon dioxide is dissolved in the elastomer, thereby providing a substantially void-free filling material. The formulation permits the addition of a substantial amount of extender oil while retaining an acceptable level of hardness.
Abstract:
A method and article of manufacture is herein disclosed for eliminating the need for pressurized air in a vehicular pneumatic tire. A resilient tubular insert is inserted and carried within a tire casing to simulate pneumatic conditions. The resilient material possesses a longitudinal bore which in combination with a particular range of durometers, enhances the "pneumatic" characteristics of the tire insert. Preferably, the tire insert is discontinuous and is designed to have a diameter greater than the internal diameter of the tire casing under deflated conditions.
