Abstract:
A filter cartridge includes a cylindrical inner filter, and a removable and replaceable outer filter of media. The removable and replaceable filter includes more than one layer of media therein. One application for the filter cartridge is in a mist collector arrangement.
Abstract:
A spacing and scoring tool for creating high density pleated filter media, and the media therefor is disclosed herein. A blade (14) having curvilinear portions (22, 22a) and linear portions (21, 21a) create an island pattern when scored into flat or corrugated media (16). The island are preferably located centrally upon the corrugation peaks (18) either at every peak or periodically. The resulting pattern when foled produces filter media with automatic pleat spacing and this structure can be used at very high pleat spacings beyond 10 pleats per inch. The blade (14) is solid on its contact face at the curvilinear portions for preventing island collapse when the media is folded.
Abstract:
A mist collector cartridge for collecting airborne liquids, and more particularly, a filter media having vertically oriented interconnected pleats treated with a low surface energy material to facilitate agglomeration and drainage of liquid which accumulates on the inner and outer surface of the filter media.
Abstract:
An engine exhaust filtering system (10) filters carbon particles from exhaust gases. A length of pipe (12) leads from the engine to promote the agglomeration of carbon particles in the exhaust gases. The exhaust gases then pass through a diffuser (36) having a series of chokes (38) to promote further turbulence and agglomeration of the carbon particles. A diffuser (36) directs particles for uniform distribution over a filter cartridge (22). After passing through the filter cartridge (22), the filtered exhaust gases are then expelled into the atmosphere. The filter cartridge (22) is removable and can be reused after the particles are removed.
Abstract:
A filter assembly (10) includes a frame (10 and 12) and means (10, 32, 34, 36, 38, 44, 48, and 50) releasably retaining a replaceable pleated filter element (14) therein. The edges of the pleats (68) of the filter element (14) are folded over diagonal fold lines (70) and tucked between adjacent pleats in a manner which provides control expansibility and substantially even pleat spacing upon expansion after storage in collapsed condition.
Abstract:
A pleated media filter element is disclosed which includes pleat spacers which are an integral structural part of the pleated media. The construction of the pleat spacers is accomplished by scoring on the unfolded media a continuous line pattern upon the portion of the media which, when folded, forms a pleat tip of the element. When the scored media is folded into pleats the patterns each define areas on the respective pleat tips which are integral structural parts of the media itself. The configuration of the pattern causes a portion of the media at the pleat tip to project transversely relative to the respective pleat, serving thereby as an integral spacer to space the pleat apart from the pleats on either side thereof.
Abstract:
An air cleaner which includes a support (23) having a first concave conical surface (26) and compression means (50) extending along the axis of said surface away from the apex of said surface; an hollow inner filter (37) including a first end cap (41) with a rim (43) defining a first convex conical surface having the same apex angle as said first concave surface, and a second end cap (42) for axial engagement by said compression means; and a hollow, outer filter (32) including an end cap (57) with a resilient lip (61) extending inwardly to be sealingly received between said conical surfaces when said compression means engages said second end cap. The second end cap of the inner filter may have a second convex conical surface (47), and the outer filter may have a second end cap with a resilient lip extending to be sealingly engaged by the second convex conical surface.

Abstract:
A sheet of porous filter material folded into accordion pleats, the pleats having opposite edges folded over on diagonal fold lines to close the opposite edges of alternate pleats. The pleated and folded sheet is selectively disposed in flat panel form or formed into a tube with the pleats extending axially of the tube. When the filter is in its tubular form, the folded pleat ends are disposed at the exterior of the tube.
