    摘要: An apparatus for treating Diesel engine exhaust gas includes a filter unit which is located in the upstream side of a flow passage in a Diesel engine exhaust duct, the filter unit being composed of a plural number of filter chambers which are thermally insulated from each other and selectively opened for admission of the exhaust gas. Located in the downstream side is a nitrogen oxide treatment section to induce reactions between nitrogen oxides and reductant gas components of the exhaust gas. The exhaust gas is admitted into one of the filter chambers in one time period to trap particulate material on a filter in a filter chamber while letting reductant gas components of the exhaust gas pass through toward the nitrogen oxide treatment section which is located in the downstream side. In the nitrogen oxide treatment section, reducing reactions are induced between nitrogen oxides and reductant gas components of the exhaust gas in the presence of a nitrogen oxide reduction catalyst. Concurrently, in a filter chamber which is disconnected from an exhaust gas inlet passage, a heater is turned on to burn off particulate matter trapped on a filter in a filter chamber.

    摘要: A system for treating diesel exhaust is disclosed. The system includes a first filter including layers of filtration material positioned between layers of corrugated metallic foil. The metallic foil defines a honeycomb arrangement of longitudinal passageways from an upstream end to a downstream end and also openings for allowing exhaust to pass between adjacent longitudinal passageways of the metallic foil. The filtration material is positioned such that exhaust between the adjacent longitudinal passageways passes through the filtration material. The metallic foil also includes flow diverting structures to divert flow within the longitudinal passageways through the openings. A second filter is positioned downstream from the first filter. The second filter defines a honeycomb arrangement of longitudinal passageways. The longitudinal passages are selectively plugged adjacent upstream and downstream ends to force flow radially through walls between the longitudinal passages of the second filter.

A jointing compound has a three-point flexural modulus of rupture of between 0.5 and 6 MPa, the jointing compound has a dynamic Young's modulus less than or equal to 17 GPa, the mat has a mean density in the compacted state of between 0.30 and 0.54, and the mean thickness of the mat in the compacted state is between 2 and 8 mm.

    摘要: A disclosed laminated sheet to be wound around an outer surface of an exhaust gas processing unit includes a first mat containing first inorganic fibers and a second mat containing second inorganic fibers, the second mat being laminated on the first mat. The average fiber length of the first inorganic fibers is larger than the average fiber length of the second inorganic fibers and the laminated sheet is to be wound around the exhaust gas processing unit such that the first mat forms an outermost layer. Development of cracks in the outer surface of the laminated sheet can be prevented by winding the laminated sheet around an exhaust gas processing unit such that the first mat faces outward.
