Abstract:
A resource manager may monitor resources offered by a resource provider. The resource manager receives computing metrics from the resources and may perform a management action when a customer defined usage limit is satisfied. The management action may include the resource manager generating an alert, or the resource manager preventing the customer from further accessing the resources offered by the resource provider. The resource manager may also be used to reduce the cost of running a customer's application that uses resources offered by the service provider. The resource manager may also receive business metrics from the customer and determine rates of return using the business metrics and the computing metrics.
Abstract:
Embodiments of systems and methods for archive verification are disclosed. More specifically, embodiments of this archive verification can comprise loading media into a drive and reading data from the media to verify that the media and data on the media can be read. In one embodiment, media can be loaded into a drive and read according to a verification policy. As part of verifying that media and data on media can be read, read errors or other verification data associated with media can be obtained. Using this verification data a result for the media may be determined.
Abstract:
A non-thermal plasma reactor is provided. The non-thermal plasma reactor includes a plasma-generating substrate, a housing and a mat. The plasma-generating substrate has one or more flow paths for an exhaust gas. The housing has an inlet and an outlet. The mat retains the plasma-generating substrate in the housing such that the one or more flow paths are in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. A voltage is supplied to the plasma-generating substrate to generate a plasma field. An electrically insulating layer is disposed between the plasma-generating substrate and the housing for preventing an arc of electricity from the plasma-generating substrate and/or the voltage to the housing.
Abstract:
A foldable shelter is disclosed having a flexible skin with an inner U-shaped support frame and a pair of resilient top support members attached to the exterior of the top of the skin.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for monitoring components in a library by tracking the movement of library components. By tracking the movement of library components, the degradation of library components can be monitored and the reliability of library components determined, allowing unreliable components to be bypassed or replaced, enhancing the reliability of the library and preventing data loss.
Abstract:
A catalytic converter for use in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine having a catalyst coated substrate with an inlet face oriented at an angle less than ninety degrees to the flow of exhaust gas entering the converter and fluid flow channels extending through the substrate from the inlet face to an outlet face and oriented at an angle less than ninety degrees to the inlet face. The mounting configuration within the canister allows for an increase in the frontal or inlet area without a corresponding increase in the converter cross section while the angled flow channels minimize the effect of the angled mounting of the substrate relative to the exhaust flow on the backpressure imposed on the exhaust system by the converter.
Abstract:
An internal combustion engine exhaust gas catalytic converter has a simplified basic construction--using only vertically disposed inner and outer louvered tubes defining a radial flow bead catalyst bed, and a pair of shell members embracing the upper and lower ends of the inner and outer tubes to retain the tubes and close the upper and lower ends of the catalyst bed. The shell members have an enlarged waist defining an outlet chamber surrounding the outer tube, and abut along radially-outwardly-directed axially-extending flanges which seal the outlet chamber and close the lower end of the inner tube to direct exhaust gases through the catalyst bed.
Abstract:
A low profile two-bed catalytic converter including substantially identical top and bottom housing plates and top and bottom catalyst-retaining plates therebetween which define an inclined catalyst-containing space. A plurality of openings in the retaining plates distribute exhaust flow uniformly through the catalyst-containing space. A partition made up of two spaced plates has a plurality of uniformly distributed exhaust flow apertures therein and extends through the catalyst-containing space to divide the space into upper and lower catalyst beds. An air distribution means between the partition plates has outlet nozzles for discharging air laterally into streams of exhaust gas flowing through apertures in the air distribution means as the exhaust gases pass from the upper to the lower catalyst bed.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method of making a catalytic converter; forming a shell having a welding deformation detail; inserting and housing a catalyst substrate inside the shell, wherein a mat support material is disposed between the shell and the catalyst substrate; welding an end cone having a flange to the shell by applying a deformation force to the flange causing deformation of welding deformation detail.
