Abstract: A system for determining positions of labels. Each label includes a processor and a transmitting and receiving device, and each label is configured for transmitting an electromagnetic first type beacon signal. The labels are also configured for receiving first type beacon signals from other labels, and for determining first type positioning data. The labels are also configured to transmit information about the positioning data. The system includes a receiver for receiving transmitted information about the positioning data, and a computer configured to calculate, on the basis of the received information, the relative positions of the labels relative to each other. The information about the relative positions of the labels can be exported by means of an electrical information signal.

Abstract: A label is described for attachment to an animal. The label includes a transmitting and receiving device having an electric oscillator circuit that, upon closure of the oscillator circuit, generates a periodic electric oscillator signal with an oscillation period for transmitting an electromagnetic beacon signal with the transmitting and receiving device. The label is configured for closing the electric oscillator circuit during a predetermined transmission duration, and is further configured for opening the electric oscillator circuit upon elapse of the predetermined transmission duration, wherein the predetermined transmission duration corresponds to at least one and at least a whole number of oscillation periods of the electric oscillator signal.

Abstract: Method and system for determining calving information about a moment at which a cow is going to calve, a period in which a cow is going to calve or the moment at which the cow has calved. The system comprises a sensor and a signal processing unit which is configured to process signals obtained with the sensor. With the sensor a heartbeat of the cow is measured so that the signals obtained with the sensor comprise information about the measured heartbeat of the animal. With the signal processing unit an increased heartbeat is recognized according to a predetermined criterion on the basis of signals obtained with the sensor. If the increased heartbeat is recognized with the signal processing unit, the signal processing unit generates an alarm signal which comprises the calving information.

Abstract: A method for estrus detection of a mammal is provided. Activity data is obtained that is indicative of a degree and/or type of activity as a function of time for an activity of the mammal, wherein an indicated degree and/or type of activity is selected from at least two potential indications for a degree and/or type of activity. Based on the activity data, one or more activity switch counts are determined. The activity switch counts are indicative of a number of switches in indicated type and/or degree of activity during an evaluation time interval of a predetermined duration. Respective relative activity switch scores are computed for the activity switch counts. On the basis of the respective relative activity switch scores it is determined whether the mammal is in estrus.

Abstract: The invention relates to a detection label provided with a passive resonant circuit which is configured to emit an identification code when the passive resonant circuit is introduced into a first electromagnetic interrogation field, wherein the label is further provided with a memory and an active circuit comprising a transmitter and a receiver, wherein the active circuit is configured to emit information which is stored in the memory with the transmitter when the active circuit is introduced into a second electromagnetic interrogation field comprising a first predetermined code, which second electromagnetic interrogation field is received with the receiver, characterized in that the label is configured, in response to the receiving of the second interrogation field, when the second interrogation field comprises a second predetermined code, to adjust a status of the label such that the passive resonant circuit does not emit the identification code when the passive resonant circuit is introduced into the first electromagnetic interrogation field.

Abstract: An apparatus (1) for taking a sample (2) of milk (4) that flows through a milk line (6), wherein the apparatus comprises a main valve (8) comprising a first valve inlet (10) and a first valve outlet (12), the apparatus being configured for including the main valve in a milk flow path of the milk line by placing the first valve inlet in fluid communication with a first open end (16) of the milk line and placing the first valve outlet in fluid communication with a second open end (18) of the milk line, the first open end being located upstream of the second open end in the milk flow path, the apparatus further comprising a sample collecting chamber (20) for receiving the sample of the milk, the sample collecting chamber being provided with a sample collecting chamber inlet (22) and at least one sample collecting chamber outlet (24), and the main valve further comprising a second valve outlet (26), the second valve main valve is configured to selectively swatch between a first and a second state, wherein in the first state the first valve inlet is in fluid communication with the first valve outlet so that the milk can flow through the milk line without a sample being taken and wherein in the second state the first valve inlet is in fluid communication with the second valve outlet for supplying milk from the milk line to the sample collecting chamber and wherein the apparatus is configured to selectively place or not place the sample collecting chamber outlet in fluid communication with the milk line downstream of the main valve for leading back to the milk line excess milk of a milk sample which is in the sample collecting chamber.
