An improved structure of a weatherstrip member for sealing an end of a pane of window glass applicable to a vehicular door is disclosed wherein a bleed rubber material mixed with a lublicant is used in a pair of seal lips extended from tips of the pair of side wall portions to reduce sliding resistance of the seal lips against side surfaces of the pane of window glass pane, a thicker bottom portion (rib) is provided on a part of the bottom of the weatherstrip member so that when the end of the pane of window glass is inserted in an internal space defined by the weatherstrip member with an offset toward the vehicular outside portion from a center line of a door sash, the thicker portion and a thinner part of the bottom portion of the weatherstrip member on which the top surface of the end of the pane of window glass is touched are contacted with the bottom portion of the door sash. In addition, one of the pair of seal lips extended from the tips of the side wall portions has a bending point deviated toward the vehicular inner side to make the lengthes of both seal lips equal to each other so that when the pane of window glass is inserted as described above and contacted with a portion of the weatherstrip member which is deviated in the vehicular outside direction, the face contact therebetween can be assured.

A coating composition capable of producing a coating film having excellent water-proof property, solvent-resistant property, chemical-resistant property, thermal stability and hardness, which comprises water, a water-soluble solvent and a water-soluble, thermosetting resin as essential, film-forming component, which resin is prepared by (A) adding an amine to 100 parts by weight of a copolymer obtained by the copolymerization of (1) 5 to 30 parts by weight of an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid component, (2) 5 to 50 parts by weight of an addition product component containing hydroxyl group and a tertiary aliphatic group having 4 to 26 carbon atoms, (3) 40 to 90 parts by weight of a hydroxy-free, polymerizable, unsaturated monomer component and (4) up to 20 parts by weight of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer component having a hydroxyl group in its molecule, the amount of said amine being 0.5 to 2.0 equivalent with respect to the carboxyl group in said copolymer, to form a water-soluble salt; and (B) adding to said salt 4 to 50 parts by weight of a water-soluble amino resin. A process for preparing the coating composition and an article coated with the composition are provided.

A coating material having excellent adhesion to the surfaces of substrates including metals and excellent flexibility, durability, chemical-resistance and rust-preventive property which comprises water, a water-soluble organic solvent and a water-soluble, thermosetting resin as substantial film-forming component, said resin being obtained by (A) adding an amine to 100 parts by weight of a copolymer consisting of (1) 50 to 80.5 parts by weight of at least one polymerizable, unsaturated monomer free from hydroxyl group, (2) a total of 19.5 to 50 parts by weight of an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid and an epoxy resin having at least two epoxy groups in the molecule, the proportion of said epoxy resin being 0.01 to 0.5 equivalent with respect to the carboxyl group contained in said .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid, said .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated acid having been reacted with 10 % or more of the epoxy groups of said epoxy resin, and (3) 0 to 30 parts by weight of at least one polymerizable, unsaturated monomer having a hydroxyl group in the molecule, the total amount of the (1), (2) and (3) components being 100 parts by weight, the amount of said amine being 0.5 to 2.0 equivalent with respect to the carboxyl group in the copolymer, thereby converting said copolymer into a water-soluble salt; and (B) adding, to said water-soluble salt, 4 to 50 parts by weight of a water-soluble amino resin.

This disclosure concerns an organic solvent soluble thermoplastic copolymers and the preparation thereof, and more specifically, thermoplastic copolymers compositions comprising an organic solvent, resinous base copolymers having at least one unreacted epoxy radical and at least one unreacted carboxyl radical per molecule, and if necessary, a pigment. Said copolymers compositions are excellent in hardness, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, adhesiveness, and other properties, and can give various thermosetting copolymers and copolymers which form coatings upon air drying, depending on the types. Said compositions can be used as enamels, primers, and surfacers for coating metals, boards, and have other practical applications as adhesives, paper coating materials, sizing materials for fibers and the like.
