    摘要： The present invention relates to compounds of formula I ##STR1## or a salt, ester or amide thereof; wherein R.sup.1 is --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, CH.sub.2 --O-- or --O--CH.sub.2 --; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are the same or different and are each hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl or taken together with the nitrogen comprise a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring having four to six ring members; R.sup.4 is a single bond or a C.sub.1-7 bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group and may be joined to the aromatic ring system at the 2,3,8 or 9 positions; n is 0 to 3, and their use as antihistamine and antiasthma agents.

    摘要： An ophthalmic artificial tear solution is described for treating irritation and dryness of the eyes with a formulation that includes polyvinylpyrrolidone, a preservative such as benzalkonium chloride, glycerin and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, wherein the composition is an aqueous solution having isotonic properties with respect to the eye. The ophthalmic solution of the invention is characterized as having a low viscosity, preferably less than 5 cps, and a low surface tension, preferably less than 40 dynes/cm, wherein wettability, retainability and comfort of the user are enhanced.

    摘要： The present invention is directed to method of disinfecting a contact lens with an ophthalmically safe disinfecting aqueous solution comprising about 2.0 to about 8.0 ppm of a bis(biguanide) having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 are independently selected from the group consisting of branched or unbranched alkyl having 4-12 carbon atoms, ether or thioether radical having 4-12 carbon atoms, or cycloalkyl or cycloalkyl-alky radical having 5-12 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms, alkoxyalkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms, or cycloalkyl or cycloalkyl-alkyl having 5-12, carbon atoms; R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl radical having 1-6 carbon atoms, and A in the above formula is selected from the group consisting of a divalent alkyl, alkyloxyalkyl, or alkylsufide radical each having 4-12 carbon atoms. The invention is also directed to a method of cleaning and/or disinfecting a contact lens within a minimum soaking period that is not more than about 75 minutes.
