摘要:
Methanol is produced from carbon dioxide and water in a reactor comprising a cathode side with a cathode and catalyst for the cathode reaction, an anode side with an anode and catalyst for the anode reaction, and an intermediate membrane separating the cathode side from the anode side. The reactor is divided into a plurality of cells that are flow connected in series for carrying out a multi-step cathode reaction. A voltage is connected between the cathode and the anode where the carbon dioxide is exposed to a cathode reaction, and is reduced to formic acid, in a second step the formic acid is reduced to formaldehyde and water, and in a third step the formaldehyde is reduced to methanol. Reduction of the amount of carbon dioxide to be deposited may be achieved. Water is oxidized to hydrogen peroxide, which may be used as oxidant in DMFC fuel cells.

The invention relates to a method and a system of converting and storing energy. Energy in the form of, for example, wind power or solar energy is used to convert carbon dioxide to methyl alcohol in an electrochemical cell. The methyl alcohol may later be used to produce electricity in a fuel cell.

The invention relates to an iron based material for coating of surfaces which comprises a binding phase in the form of a corrosion dense alloy which contains at least 50% Fe, 12-30% Cr, maximally 5% Mn, 0-40% Ni, preferably 6-20% Ni and 0-7% Mo and 0-1% N and 6-20% Si, all stated as weight percent, which addition of Si lowers the liquidus temperature, that is the temperature at which the binding phase is completely melted. The invention also aims at products of metal coated with the iron based material mentioned above.

A proton conducting membrane for a fuel cell or a reactor based on fuel cell technology, consisting of a thin glass plate that allows for migration of protons from one side of the membrane to the other. Such a membrane is not affected by reactants that are common in DMFC cells, and is not permeable to ions other than protons/hydroxonium ions, and it does not conduct electrons. The glass may be ordinary soda lime glass and may be doped with silver chloride. Furthermore, a catalyst that is essential for conducting one of an anodic reaction and a cathodic reaction in the fuel cell or the reactor can be fused in the glass surface on one side of the membrane, and the catalyst that is essential for conducting the other reaction can be fused in the glass surface on the other side of the membrane.
摘要:
A DMFC fuel cell, in which liquid methanol is oxidised to carbon dioxide and water, the methanol is exposed to an anodic reaction using a catalyst, the reaction products are led to a second step, where an anodic reaction is performed using a catalyst, and the reaction products from the second step are led to a third step, where an anodic reaction is performed using an optimal catalyst. The three reaction steps are connected flow-wise in series in a fuel cell unit, and the supply of oxidant is controlled such that the reactions on the anodic and the cathodic sides are in stoichiometric balance with each other in every step. Hydrogen peroxide is preferably used as an oxidant. Liquid ethanol can be used as fuel. The ethanol is oxidised to carbon dioxide, and methanol and in the second unit the methanol is oxidised to carbon dioxide and water.

The invention relates to a plate heat exchanger and a method of manufacturing a plate heat exchanger. The plate heat exchanger includes a number of heat exchanger plates (1, 1′, 1″) which are provided beside each other and connected to each other by means of a braze connection. The heat exchanger plates are substantially manufactured in stainless steel containing chromium. The plate heat exchanger includes a number of port channels extending through at least some of the heat exchanger plates. Each port channel is surrounding by a connection surface (5) for connection of the port channel to a pipe member (6). The connection surface includes a material permitting brazing of the pipe member to the connection surface in a more easy manner than stainless steel.
