摘要: A MR fluid formulation based upon a silicone liquid vehicle thickened with a treated fumed metal oxide and doped with one or more chemicals having hydrogen-bonding capability for use with natural rubber mounts. The MR fluid is resistant to settling of the magnetizable particles upon contact of the fluid with natural rubber. In one exemplary embodiment, the doping chemical is one or a combination of propylene glycol and a bifunctional ethoxylated amine.

摘要: The invention provides a multi-disc brake for a vehicle. A knuckle supports a wheel of a vehicle. A hub is mounted for rotation on the knuckle about a rotation axis. A pair of discs are mounted for rotation with the hub and for sliding movement on the hub along the rotation axis. Each of the discs includes respective inboard and outboard engaging surfaces. Brake pad assemblies are disposed about the discs to engage the engaging surfaces. The brake pad assemblies slide along the rotation axis relative to the hub. A brake fist having a bridge portion extends outboard from the knuckle around the discs and the brake pad assemblies to an outboard wall supporting the outboard brake pad assembly against outboard movement along the rotation axis. An actuator urges the discs and the brake pad assemblies together against the outboard wall to slow rotation of the hub. A first bolt extends along a first bolt axis and a second bolt extends along a second bolt axis spaced from the first bolt axis across the outboard wall for connecting the brake fist to the knuckle. A reinforcing rib extends outwardly from and across the outboard wall to intersect both of the first bolt axis and the second bolt axis in a plane perpendicular to the discs for limiting deflection of the outboard wall.

The decoupler subassembly comprises first and second flexible decoupler members operatively sealed together to form a third fluid chamber. The first and second chambers may be substantially filled with a magneto-rheological fluid. The third chamber may be filled with a standard hydraulic fluid, like glycol.

摘要: Synthetic thermoelectric materials comprising phononic crystals can simultaneously have a large Seebeck coefficient, high electrical conductivity, and low thermal conductivity. Such synthetic thermoelectric materials can enable improved thermoelectric devices, such as thermoelectric generators and coolers, with improved performance. Such synthetic thermoelectric materials and devices can be fabricated using techniques that are compatible with standard microelectronics.

摘要: In July of 2004 KTH Racing will attend at the Formula Student event in England. The Formula Student event is a competition between schools that has built their own formula style race cars according to the Formula SAE rules. In January of 2004 the Formula Student project started at KTH involving over seventy students. The aim of this thesis work is to design the suspension and steering geometry for the race car being built. The design shall meet the demands caused by the different events in the competition. The design presented here will then be implemented into the chassis being built by students participating in the project. Results from this thesis work shows that the most suitible design of the suspension is a classical unequal length double A-arm design. This suspension type is easy to design and meets all demands. This thesis work is written in such a way that it can be used as a guidebook when designing the suspension and steering geometries of future Formula Student projects at KTH.
