    摘要: A novel system and method is disclosed for maintaining synchronization in a communication system in which a communication signal comprising a carrier and a data signal is sent from a transmitter to a receiver which includes a phase lock loop. The receiver compares the output of a Viterbi decoder with the output of a quick decision circuit. The Viterbi decoder, which incorporates traceback, determines the minimum aggregate Euclidean distance for multiple symbols. The quick decision circuit determines the minimum Euclidean distance for a single symbol without decoding the symbol. A delay circuit is placed in series with the quick decision circuit to compensate for the traceback delay in the Viterbi decoder. If the difference in the output signals of the Viterbi decoder and the quick decision circuit is greater than a predetermined threshold, the phase error signal in the phase lock loop is prevented from updating the phase lock loop filter. A synchronization loss detector may also be used to prevent the phase error signal from updating the phase lock loop filter if synchronization loss is detected. Additionally, the output signal from the Viterbi decoder is used to extract the carrier from the received communication signal by use of a lookup table to generate phase angle information as a function of the Viterbi decoder output signal. The phase angle information is combined with the Viterbi decoder output signal to reconstitute the data signal in the communication signal. The reconstituted data signal is combined with the communication signal, which has been delayed to compensate for the traceback delay in the Viterbi decoder, in order to extract the carrier.

    摘要: The surveillance system includes a remote monitoring station, at least one mobile radio (e.g. a handheld radio), and one or more deployable sensors each for unattended surveillance to transmit a detection signal in response to a detected activity. A deployable gateway surveillance node includes a controller and at least one wireless transceiver cooperating therewith to transmit a notification to the remote monitoring station based upon a received detection signal, and determine and transmit a voice-message status report, based upon the received detection signal, to the at least one mobile radio identifying the deployable gateway surveillance node and corresponding deployable sensor for the received detection signal. The voice message status report may further include information regarding a status of a communication link between the deployable gateway surveillance node and the remote monitoring station, a received detection signal strength, detected activity information and/or a status of a positioning information communication link between the deployable gateway surveillance node and a positioning/navigation system.

    摘要: The unattended surveillance device may include a housing to be positioned for unattended surveillance, a video camera associated with or carried by the housing to capture video, and an image processor carried by the housing and cooperating with the video camera. The image processor extracts moving objects in the foreground of the captured video, generates a profile image or sequence of profile images of the extracted moving objects, compresses the sequence of profile images, and generates a surveillance information packet based upon the compressed sequence of profile images. Also, a wireless transmitter or transceiver may be associated with the image processor to transmit the surveillance information packet to a surveillance monitoring station.

The method includes the steps of: generating a directed IP packet at a first node (FN); transmitting a first unicast signal including a RTS message from the FN to a second node (SN); transmitting a second unicast signal including a CTS message from the SN to the FN in response to the first unicast signal; modifying the directed IP packet by changing an IP destination address of the directed IP packet to an IP subnet broadcast address; transmitting a uni-broadcast signal including the modified directed IP packet from the FN to the IP subnet broadcast address; and receiving the uni-broadcast signal at the SN and a third node (TN).
