Abstract:
To avoid signal jamming, a method is provided for selecting a dwell channel on a receiver in a frequency hopping communication system. The method includes: measuring a noise level on channels over which a data signal is received at the receiver; selecting a dwell channel based on the estimated noise levels, where the dwell channel having the lowest noise level amongst a group of permissible channels over which to acquire a signal from a transmitter; and tuning the receiver to the selected dwell channel during a search state in which the receiver attempts to synchronize with a transmitter.
Abstract:
A fitting includes a stepped passage having a pair of axially spaced apart shoulders, one of which acts as a stop shoulder preventing a bell shaped end of a tube support from being inserted past the stop shoulder, and the other of which has a trepan formed therein which is deformed radially inwardly to wrap around the bell shaped end portion. The trepan has a generally triangular shape cross section including an axial inner wall in alignment with the outer diameter of the stop shoulder and a tapered outer wall intersecting the inner wall at an acute angle. In one form of the invention, the entire outer edge of the trepan is deformed radially inwardly to form an inturned lip that wraps around the bell shaped end portion of the tube support. In another form of the invention, a plurality of circumferentially spaced segments of the outer edge of the trepan are deformed radially inwardly to form individual fingers that wrap around the bell shaped end portion of the tube support.
Abstract:
A symmetrical inductor having at least one inductor turn. Each inductor turn has a plurality of separate conductive paths having substantially equal inductance. The inductor also comprises a plurality of crossing points. At each crossing point, some of the conductive paths within a given inductor turn cross over each other to change the order in which they appear within the inductor turn.
Abstract:
A software defined radio includes a radio circuit powered by a battery and formed as a pair of radio subsystems having radio components that draw power from the battery. An executable radio software system conforms to the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) specification and defines an operating platform environment that allows a waveform application to operate with the radio circuit. A power management service is operative with the pair of radio subsystems to coordinate the power among the radio components.
Abstract:
A secure system and method for managing and monitoring remote devices preferably includes periodic pulling of configuration information from an accessible platform rather than pushing information from a central site. In one implementation, an electronic mail system is used as a staging platform in combination with a defined polling arrangement to transfer encrypted configuration information in a robust and secure method for updating remote device configurations.
