    摘要: Techniques related to coils for medical device are disclosed. One example coil may comprise multiple filars, each being formed of a biocompatible beta titanium alloy having an elastic modulus ranging from 30 GigaPascals (GPa) to 90 GPa and comprising at least two elements from a group consisting of titanium, molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, zirconium, chromium, iron and tin. At least one of the multiple filars may be electrically insulated one from another. A structural body, such as a lead body, may carry the coil. One or more filars may carry a low-resistance core.

    摘要: A medical lead which has a connector assembly coupled to an electrode by a lead body, the lead body is designed so as to have greater resistance to crush fatigue in the area which is located between the rib and clavicle when implanted. In particular the lead body of the present invention features an insulative sheath covering a coiled conductor. The coiled conductor has three sections, viz., proximal, intermediate and distal sections. The intermediate section has a different pitch as compared to proximal section and distal section. In the preferred embodiment, intermediate section has a pitch of approximately 0.100 while proximal section has a pitch of approximately 0.025 and distal section has a pitch of approximately 0.025. Moreover, intermediate section has a length of approximately 10.4 inches while proximal section has a length of approximately 5.1 inches and distal section has a length of approximately 7.2 inches. In such a manner the lead of the present invention presents a coiled conductor having a greater pitch in the area in which crush fatigue between the clavicle and rib is likely to occur.

    摘要: A biomedical lead conductor body formed of a coiled wire conductor that is sheathed loosely within a coiled insulative sheath of biocompatible and biostable material allowing a gap or space to be present between the exterior surface of the coiled wire conductor and the adjacent interior surface of the insulative sheath. The coiled insulative sheath is loosely fitted around the coiled wire conductor in order to compensate for defects in the coiled insulative sheath by spreading any corrosion of the wire that may take place because of the defect away from the site of a defect and along the surface of the coiled wire conductor. The lead body is incorporated into unipolar, bipolar or multi-polar biomedical leads having single filar coil windings, or multi-filar coil windings that may be redundantly electrically connected. The coiled wire conductors and coiled insulative sheaths may be parallel-wound and/or coaxially wound within the outer lead body insulative sheath. The individual coiled wire conductors may be formed of single filar wire or multi-filar wire cable and formed of single composition or composite conductive metals. The proximal and distal wire ends of the coiled wire conductors that are electrically connected in common are connected to lead connector elements and operative elements, respectively.
