摘要: A method and system are provided for detecting and selecting foreground objects from an acquired image. The system includes an image acquisition arrangement having a camera for acquiring an image and sources of illumination. The arrangement is augmented with an additional illumination device. The illumination device is positioned near the camera. The illumination device emits radiation, either in the infrared, visible, or ultraviolet range, which is detected by the camera. The radiation emitted by the illumination device differs from main ambient illumination by temporal and/or spectral properties so that it can be discriminated by the camera and/or other image processing devices. Foreground objects are recognized utilizing the image acquisition arrangement of the inventive system by using the temporal and/or spectral properties of the radiation emitted by the illumination device.

摘要: System and method for adjusting the position of a displayed image of a person. The system comprises a control unit that receives a sequence of images and processes the received images to determine whether the person is positioned at the border of the received images to be displayed. If so positioned, the control unit generates control signals to control the position of an optical device providing the sequence of images so that the person is positioned entirely within the image.

摘要: A method of binding one or more lamps from a neighborhood group into a control group that are controlled together. First, the addresses of the lamps in the neighborhood group are requested. The first address received from the lamps in response to the address request is considered as an address (represented as ADDR1) of a first lamp in the neighborhood group. The lamps in the neighborhood group are queried as to whether they have address ADDR1 of the first lamp in the neighborhood. A response to the query is received, of course, from the first lamp, which has address ADDR1. In addition, it is determined whether one or more additional responses to the query are received from one or more of the other lamps in the neighborhood group. If additional responses are received, all lamps having address ADDR1 are instructed to randomize their addresses. These steps are repeated starting with the request for the addresses of the lamps in the neighborhood group until it is determined that no additional responses are received to the query regarding which lamps have address ADDR1.

摘要: A capacitively coupled fluorescent lamp package having a capacitively coupled fluorescent lamp; an inverter circuit for driving the lamp; and supply nodes for receiving a supply voltage is disclosed. The capacitively coupled fluorescent lamp package includes a resonant circuit lamp driving scheme for driving the capacitively coupled fluorescent lamp. The driving scheme reduces parasitic capacitance leakage current; compensates the reactive power using the secondary side leakage inductance in order to have the resonant frequency approximately equal the inverter circuit operating frequency for current source-type driven circuits; and forms a series resonant sub-circuit with the embedded ballasting capacitor and the secondary side leakage inductance for voltage source-type driven circuits, such that the resonant frequency is substantially less than the inverter circuit operating frequency and that the lamp current is properly shaped along with current ballasting.

摘要: A capacitively coupled fluorescent lamp package having a capacitively coupled fluorescent lamp having cylindrical ceramic tubes is disclosed. The lamp package further includes an electronic driver or inverter circuit for driving the lamp and supply nodes for receiving a supply voltage. The inverter circuit is a conventional inverter circuit, such as, for example, current-fed push-pull, voltage-fed push-pull, active clamped Flyback, and voltage-fed half-bridge inverter circuits, used in conventional CCFLs. A ballast circuit may be connected to the inverter circuit for properly ballasting the lamp.

摘要: A television programming recommender is disclosed that selectively obtains feedback information from a user to update one or more profiles associated with the user. Previously obtained implicit and explicit preferences are utilized to selectively focus the collection of feedback information to further update and refine the implicit and explicit preferences. The present invention obtains feedback from a user in a manner that maximizes the value of the obtained information and improves the performance of the television programming recommender. The present invention automatically requests feedback from the user upon the occurrence of predefined criteria. The nature of the requested feedback, and the manner in which the obtained feedback is used to adjust a profile, can vary.

摘要: A wireless telephone, personal digital assistant (PDA), smart remote control, or other Internet-enabled processing device includes a scalable parser which supports a designated subset of an extensible mark-up language (XML) grammar. The designated subset may be selected for a given device based on factors such as the computational and memory capabilities of that device, and the complexity of documents handled by that device. An XML document supplied to the device is parsed using the scalable parser. The results of the parsing may then be supplied via a well-known standard application programming interface (API) to an application program on the processing device, and used to control an operation of the device. Advantageously, the invention allows nullthinnull devices to process simple XML documents without requiring implementation of the complete XML grammar.

摘要: A modular optimizer, for use in determining a configuration of a production line with one or more component placement machines, is configured to learn a foreign optimizer module associated with a component placement machine type foreign to the modular optimizer. The modular optimizer includes an adapting estimator which estimates an output value, such as a placement cycle time measure, for the foreign optimizer module. The estimated output value may be used in determining the configuration of the production line. In addition, the modular optimizer periodically calls the foreign optimizer module, and for a given one of the calls compares a resulting output value generated by the foreign optimizer module to the corresponding estimated output value generated by the adapting estimator. If for a given call of the foreign optimizer module the actual output value for a corresponding estimated value is determined to provide an improved result, one or more parameters of the estimator are altered so as to reduce an error associated with generation of subsequent estimated output values.

摘要: A signal router routes N inputs to M outputs. All inputs signals are ultimately applied to a data buss by spreading across multiple buss lines and time multiplexing. The data are read from the buss and written in identical images to K random access memories. The memories are addressed and read according to a different schedule for each of K output signals that are ultimately demultiplexed to M outputs. As each RAM image is read, another RAM image is written and vice versa. Since each RAM image contains the same data, the generation of signals from each RAM to supply each of the respective K output signals can be done at a rate that is substantially more independent of the input, buss, or RAM write operations than prior art techniques permit.
