The integrated image sensor may include: a polarizer pixel configured to filter electromagnetic (EM) radiation and to allow filtered EM radiation having a selected polarization state to pass therethrough; a radiation-sensing pixel configured to detect the filtered EM radiation and to generate a signal in response to detecting the filtered EM radiation; and readout circuitry configured to perform analog preprocessing on the signal generated by the radiation-sensing pixel. The edge processor may be configured to: generate first-order primitives and second-order primitives based on the analog preprocessed signal from the readout circuitry; and determine a plurality of features of an object located in a field-of-view of the radiation-sensing pixel based on the first-order primitives and the second-order primitives.

An amplifying portion is optically disposed along each of the first, second, and third band signal portions optically downstream from the first optical splitter. A first optical combiner is optically connected to the first, second, and third band signal portions to form an output. A method of amplifying a broadband optical signal is also disclosed.

The signal line includes an input for receiving an input signal, an output for discharging an amplified signal such that the output is optically connected to the input, a gain medium optically disposed between the input and the output, and a first tap for generating a first tapped signal such that the first tap is optically disposed between the input and the output. The controllable optical amplifier module also includes at least one pump laser having a laser output optically connected to the gain medium and an ability to adjustably alter the intensity of the amplified signal. A method of adjustably amplifying an optical signal is also disclosed.

A system and method for suppressing light scattering in optical fiber transmission systems are disclosed. The system includes an optical fiber assembly having first and second ends and at least one blocking apparatus disposed along the fiber between the first and second ends. The method includes providing a fiber assembly having a first end and a second end; installing a blocking apparatus in the fiber assembly between the first end and the second end; and transmitting light between the first end and the second end. The fiber assembly generates Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering light in a direction opposite the direction of the transmitted light, and the blocking apparatus suppresses the Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering light.

A tensor field is generated by operation of the analytics engine of the system. The tensor field includes an attribute set, which includes one or more attributes selected from the first-order primitives, the second-order primitives, or the plurality of features. The tensor field is processed by operation of the analytics engine of the system according to a series of artificial intelligence algorithms to generate output data representing the object.
