摘要: System and method for converting and recycling liquid-borne organic waste materials from a processing plant. The waste material is passed through a compost bed containing a fecal material which processes the organic waste biologically, removes liquid from the waste by adsorption and absorption, and filters out colloidal particles. The compost bed may be mixed with other natural and/or synthetic materials to enhance aeration and/or digestion of the waste material. Any waste material which remains after passing through the compost bed is passed through a filter bed containing charcoal, rock and/or synthetic materials, then recycled through the compost and filter beds. Warm air is passed through the filter bed and the compost to provide aeration for the composting process and removes the adsorbed and absorbed water from these beds. The air is then passed through another charcoal filter bed, following which it is condensed. The condensate is returned to the processing plant from which the waste came or to another system or plant.

摘要: A method and apparatus for making productive use of waste products such as spoiled, waste, or surplus paint and ink and waste slurry from pulp products manufacturing includes dewatering the waste slurry to obtain fiber from the slurry, drying the fiber in bulk, and combining the fiber with a mixture of paint and/or ink to create a moldable mixture. The mixture is formed into a utilitarian shape and cured or dried to form a solid object. In another aspect, there is provided a portable, self-contained apparatus for receiving waste and surplus paint and/or waste and surplus ink and fiber waste, and producing molded products using the method described above. The portable apparatus may be located temporarily at a site where such wastes are generated to avoid the transportation of wastes that is made expensive by mandated transportation safety regulations. A further aspect of the invention comprises useful article fabricated from waste materials using the method described above. Such articles may include stepping stones used for pedestrian paths or gardens, acoustic panelling, flower pots and planters, sculptures, shipping containers and packing materials, and the like.

摘要: System and method for burning wood and other fuel materials in a substantially smokeless manner. The fuel material is fed to the inlet end of an inverse pile burning chamber through an air lock chamber having inlet and outlet gates to prevent smoke from escaping from the inlet end of the burning chamber. The burning chamber is inclined in a downward direction from its inlet end to its outlet end, and the angle of inclination can be adjusted to facilitate the passage of different types of fuel material through the burning chamber. Combustion gases from the burning chamber are utilized for drying the fuel material before the material is delivered to burning chamber.

摘要: A substantially smokeless burning system for burning waste material fuels. An elongated hollow burning chamber is supported in a generally horizontal orientation. An elongated fuel accumulation chamber and a hydraulic hoist driven ram in the chamber are adapted to push elongated volumes of new fuel into the lower front end of the burning chamber such that already burning fuel is pushed to the rear of the chamber. This establishes a charcoal burning zone which at least partially overlies a volatile burning zone such that incomplete combustion products from the volatile burning zone pass over and through the charcoal burning zone to be substantially burned before exiting at the rear of the burning chamber. Integral preheat and air delivery channels are formed in the walls of the burning chamber. A pipe section is mounted within the burning chamber for incinerating liquid waste materials.

摘要: A process and system for reducing the biochemical oxygen demand and suspended solids levels of impure water and creating a wild life habitat. A number of containers are arranged in series with interconnecting lines through which the water flows. The containers include openings with clusters of bark fibers projecting through the same. The fibers serve to attract and hold nutrient deposition in the form of colloidal wastes and the like and as a safe habitat for microorganisms which feed on such wastes and as a capillary system for the passage of clarified water formed in the bark fibers. The containers are disposed underground. Roots from neighboring plants are attracted to the bark clusters and grow into the containers. In a preferred embodiment, the above container system is utilized as an advanced secondary treatment system for water previously treated in an open body of water in which a number of float units are secured carrying bark fibers which promote a trophic balance between minute animal feeders and excessive colloidal nutrient depositions in the water body.

摘要: System and method for processing an effluvia gas containing NO.sub.X and sulfur dioxide to produce an enriched fertilizer. The gas is brought into contact with a host liquid and calcium oxide to convert the NO.sub.X to calcium nitrate and the sulfur dioxide to calcium sulfate, and the liquid containing the calcium nitrate and the sulfur dioxide is then passed through a bed of horse manure media so that the calcium nitrate and the sulfur dioxide accumulate in and thereby enrich the media for use as fertilizer.

摘要: System and method for treating toxic washwater from ink, paint, pesticides and the like. The wash water is heated to a temperature on the order of 100.degree. F. in a sump positioned beneath a bed of horse manure media containing aerobic fungi and bacteria. Washwater is foam lifted from the sump to a level above the media and allowed to filter down through the media. Hot dry air is blown into the media from the side to maintain the media at a temperature on the order of 100.degree. F. and thereby promote microbiological activity and evaporation of the water in the media. Warm moist air from the media is cooled to condense the moisture, and the condensed moisture is collected as distilled water. A prefilter removes excessive amounts of solids from the washwater before it is introduced into the sump, and a Carnot cycle system provides the necessary heating and cooling for the water, media and air.
