    摘要: A vehicle system includes an engine, a transmission, an exhaust system, an adjustable valve, a sensor, and a controller. The engine is configured to propel a vehicle. The transmission is configured to transfer power from the engine to at least one drive wheel. The exhaust system is configured to route exhaust away from the engine. The exhaust system has a catalyst and an outlet. The adjustable valve is disposed within the exhaust system proximate to the outlet. The sensor is configured to observe human gestures. The controller is programmed to receive signals from the sensor indicative of the human gestures while the transmission is in a parked gear. The controller is further programmed to, in response to the sensor observing a first human gesture, increase an operating speed of the engine or adjust the valve to increase a noise output from the outlet of the exhaust system.

    摘要: The present disclosure discloses a system for attenuating sound produced by a vehicle. The system comprises a navigation device associated with the vehicle for determining location details of the vehicle, a sound reduction unit provisioned in an exhaust assembly of the vehicle. The system further includes an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) of the vehicle communicatively coupled to the navigation device and the sound reduction unit. The ECU is configured to detect sound reduction location, by comparing the location details with a pre-defined location data and operate the sound reduction unit to attenuate sound produced by the vehicle when the sound reduction location is detected. The system of the present disclosure, attenuates sound intensity of the vehicle to a desired level by considering surrounding conditions of the vehicle, thus the vehicle noise may be automatically attenuated in the sound sensitive areas or locations.

    摘要: An exhaust system for an engine has a volume element such as a muffler or a silencer. First and second exhaust pipes are connected as dual exhaust pipes upstream of or downstream of the volume element. The first exhaust pipe has a first length (L1). A valve is positioned in the second exhaust pipe at a distance (D) from the volume element. The distance D is a fraction of L1 such that the second pipe is a resonator for the first pipe with the valve in a closed position. A method of controlling exhaust noise includes positioning a valve in the first exhaust pipe at a distance (D) from a volume element with D being a specified fraction of a length of the second exhaust pipe, and closing the valve such that the first pipe provides a resonator for the second pipe to counteract standing wave in the second pipe.

    摘要: A system in a vehicle including at least one sound quality valve arranged in an exhaust system of the vehicle includes a sound quality valve control module that determines whether one or more criteria for opening the sound quality valve are met, selectively actuates the sound quality valve to an open position if the one or more criteria for opening the sound quality valve are met, and maintains the sound quality valve in a closed position if a required one of the one or more criteria for opening the sound quality valve is not met. A downshift detection module determines whether aggressive driving behavior is detected. If the aggressive driving behavior is detected, the sound quality valve control module actuates the sound quality valve to the open position regardless of whether the required one of the one or more criteria for opening the sound quality valve is met.
