摘要: A system and method for deploying an airbag includes an instrument panel and an airbag assembly disposed within the instrument panel. The airbag assembly includes the airbag and a door disposed within the instrument panel. A center display screen is pivotally disposed relative to the instrument panel. The airbag assembly includes a first state wherein the door is closed and the airbag is folded and a transitional state wherein the door is opened, a least a portion of the airbag is unfolded and contacts the display to rotate the center display screen relative to the instrument panel.

摘要: An impact energy absorbing arrangement is provided for a vehicle interior having a protuberance designed and configured as part of an interior surface covering a vehicle pillar and butting into a headliner surface. The protuberance is arranged so that if an occupant's head forcibly strikes the roof headliner directly above the pillar, the protuberance on the pillar surface would absorb at least a portion of the impact force as well as minimize potential rotation of the head about the occupant's neck by being positioned so as to contact a portion of the occupant's head at approximately the same time as contact would occur with the headliner.

摘要: A structural support system, for a vehicle having a central axis extending from a front of the vehicle to a rear of the vehicle, includes a radiator cross member, a lower load beam having a rearward end coupled to a frame of the vehicle, and a forward end coupled to the radiator cross member, the lower load beam oriented at an angle relative to the central axis and extending outwardly as the lower load beam extends toward the front of the vehicle, a front end module (FEM) coupled to the radiator cross member, and an impact block coupled to a transmission of the vehicle. During an impact event where an object impacts the FEM, the FEM and the radiator cross member are configured to absorb an impact load resulting from the impact event and bend rearward and inboard toward the transmission.

摘要: In at least one implementation, a structural rail for a vehicle includes a main body and a front portion. The main body has an upper wall, a lower wall, an inner sidewall and an outer sidewall spaced from the inner sidewall. The front portion has a rear end adjacent to the second end of the main body and a front end spaced from the rear end. The main body has a first bend between the first end and second end so that a portion of the main body is angled outwardly and an included angle of less than 180 degrees is provided in the outer sidewall. The rail also includes a second bend between the first bend and the front end, and the second bend further angles at least part of the front portion outwardly relative to the outwardly angled portion of the main body.

摘要: A vehicle crossmember assembly including a pair of main rails, a crossmember, and a pair of pedestals is provided. The main rails are laterally spaced apart. The crossmember is transverse to the main rails. The pedestals extend between and connect lateral ends of the crossmember to the main rails. Each pedestal has a lower end disposed adjacent to the crossmember and an upper end that projects upwardly from the crossmember. Fasteners connect the pedestals to the main rails. Each pedestal has a sleeve disposed at the upper end. Each sleeve has a sleeve wall defining a bore that receives one of the fasteners and each sleeve has a slit in the sleeve wall. Each slit provides a release path through which one of the fasteners can pull through the sleeve wall during an impact event, allowing the pedestals to detach from the main rails.
