The network message may be a circuit-switched (CS) handover command and/or a point-to-point signaling message. A maximum output power level value is associated with the network message. The network message is transferred from the network to the terminal. A packet-switched (PS) output power level of the terminal is determined using the maximum output power level value received via the network message.

    摘要: A method and mobile terminal are disclosed for use in a wireless communication system in order for the mobile terminal to be able to transition from a dual mode, in which a packet switched connection and circuit switched connection are used together, to a single mode in which packets are transferred. The mobile terminal is for receiving minimum system information necessary to perform the transition in an uninterrupted manner, instead of an interrupted manner. This system information is broadcast to the mobile terminal on a regular basis, and is also sent to the mobile terminal partly or entirely by point-to-point transfer if a piece of the minimum system information is missing due to inadequate broadcast reception or some other reason. This system information is then employed by the mobile terminal to transition from the dual mode to the single mode in the uninterrupted manner.

    摘要: Before execution of a routing area update (RAU) procedure associated with a handover of a mobile station (40) from a source cell to a target cell in a mobile telecommunication system, a handover required message (14) is sent to a core network (CN) from a source base station (16) in the source cell having a mobile station identifier (IMSI), an identifier of at least one target cell routing area code (RAC) and a temporary logical link identity (TLLI). In response thereto, a handover command message (32) is sent to the source base station from the core network having a packet-temporary mobile subscriber identity (P-TMSI) for transfer to the mobile station in ciphered form over a radio interface between the source base station and the mobile station so that the mobile station is able to send packet-switched (PS) data on an uplink before the RAU procedure is executed.

    摘要: A method with which cellular network terminals are informed of a possibility to use services of 3G mobile communication networks in a radio access network. A spare bit of the broadcast message SI3 of GSM system is defined as a bit indicating, whether the current GERAN cell supports UMTS service through the Iu interface or not. In a favourable case, another SI message is broadcast including a description of the PBCCH where Iu information for mobile stations is placed. Should the GERAN support also the GPRS service, said another message is SI13, and if the GERAN does not support the GPRS service, said another message is SI13alt. This message can only be employed by UMTS capable mobile stations. By means of the invention the information presumed by the use of the UMTS network can quickly be acquired by a mobile station, which for example arrives in a GERAN cell.

    摘要: A method and terminal are disclosed for use in a wireless communication system, in order for the terminal to transition from a dual mode, in which a packet switched connection and circuit switched connection are used, to a single mode in which packets are transferred. The mobile terminal is for receiving minimum system information necessary to perform this transition in an uninterrupted manner. This system information is sent to the mobile terminal automatically or on a regular basis, and is additionally sent to the mobile terminal partly upon request of the mobile terminal. A release indication is sent to the terminal separately from the system information, notifying the terminal that the circuit switched connection will be released, at which point a timer is started. The system information is employed by the mobile terminal to transition from the dual mode in the uninterrupted manner, if the timer has not expired.
