    摘要: The present invention relates to an engine governor which interpolates between several fueling power curves based upon throttle position and engine speed. Each of the curves are chosen so as to provide a consistent power rise with decreasing engine speed at throttle positions less than maximum. The curves are chosen so as to eliminate an abrupt transition between the given fueling curve and the 100% fueling curve. This is preferably accomplished by having the fueling curve exhibit a knee at the transition to the 100% fueling curve. This gives the driver an indication that the throttle position will not maintain the desired speed under the current loading conditions, thereby prompting the driver to increase the throttle position, thereby allowing the throttle to be used to simulate infinite gear shifts between actual transmission gear shifts.

    摘要: A system for controlling fueling signals provided to a fueling system of an internal combustion engine operates to eliminate the throttle deadband when the engine speed is limited to speeds less than the maximum engine speed. In one embodiment, the engine control module is modified to incorporate an additional throttle factor operable to scale the calculated throttle derived from the operator commanded throttle position. In one aspect of the invention, this throttle factor is a function of the ratio of the difference between a user-requested high idle breakpoint speed and the minimum engine speed, and difference between the minimum and maximum engine speeds. Thus, the relationship between engine speed and throttle input is rescaled to eliminate the deadband. Where this relationship is linear, the present invention essentially alters the slope of the line between the minimum and maximum throttle positions. The resulting rescaled commanded throttle value is then fed to the routines within the ECM that calculate a fueling command as a function of current engine speed and commanded throttle.

    摘要: A diagnostic system for an engine is provided for which a plurality of annunciators are energized according to particular fault code sequences. A self-diagnosis mode is controlled by use of the vehicle throttle. The self-diagnosis mode can be initiated by a predetermined number of cycles of the vehicle throttle, in which a cycle corresponds to depressing and releasing the throttle beyond upper and lower limits. In one aspect of the invention, a timer is used to determine whether the predetermined number of throttle cycles occurs within a fixed time limit. If not, then the self-diagnosis mode is not activated. Once the self-diagnosis mode is activated, subsequent cycles of the vehicle throttle will increment the annunciators among the sequential fault codes.
