摘要: A gas discharge lamp having a translucent envelope enclosing a light emitting assembly that includes a baffle and an anode separated by one or more spacers made of an electrically insulating material such as ceramic, which are oriented towards a heated cathode to receive electrons emitted therefrom. Each spacer has a front surface, a rear surface, a top surface and a bottom surface including a transverse cavity formed between the front and rear surfaces to permit electrons to flow through. The cavity extends from a first through-hole in the front surface to a second through-hole in the rear surface of the spacer. Further, the cavity includes a gap for allowing conductive materials that may sputter or evaporate from the anode or the baffle to escape from the cavity to prevent short circuiting between the anode and the baffle.

摘要: A multiple-head inkjet printer is provided for producing adjacent images on a printing medium. The inkjet printer includes a carriage, a plurality of inkjet printhead axially movable along the carriage and spaced predetermined axial distances from one another, and a printhead driver assembly for simultaneously moving each of the printheads along the carriage while maintaining the spacing distances between adjacent printheads. Each inkjet printhead is controlled by a separate image driver circuit to allow each printhead the capability of independently printing a separate image on the printing medium. The carriage has a length sufficiently greater than the width of the printing medium to allow a single one of the printheads to print a single a large image extending completely across the printing medium. The inkjet printer finds particular application in a photographic micro lab.

摘要: An electrical power plant that includes a fuel cell and at least one recycle system for recycling at least a first reactant, for reuse by the fuel cell. The fuel cell discharges a first exit stream that includes the first reactant and inerts. The recycle system comprises a separator that receives the first exit stream from the fuel cell and separates the first reactant contained in the first exit stream from inerts contained in the exit stream. The separated first reactant is directed back to the fuel cell for reuse. The remaining inerts and unseparated first reactant are discharged by the separator and then recirculated back into the separator, without progressing through the fuel cell, to separate additional first reactant from the inerts.

摘要: A diagnostic system for an engine is provided for which a plurality of annunciators are energized according to particular fault code sequences. A self-diagnosis mode is controlled by use of the vehicle throttle. The self-diagnosis mode can be initiated by a predetermined number of cycles of the vehicle throttle, in which a cycle corresponds to depressing and releasing the throttle beyond upper and lower limits. In one aspect of the invention, a timer is used to determine whether the predetermined number of throttle cycles occurs within a fixed time limit. If not, then the self-diagnosis mode is not activated. Once the self-diagnosis mode is activated, subsequent cycles of the vehicle throttle will increment the annunciators among the sequential fault codes.

摘要: A speaker excursion control circuit for driving relatively small diameter speakers at their maximum output while assuring minimum distortion of acoustical output from such transducers detects signals which may cause over excursion and dynamically controls the amplitude of signals applied to the power amplifier coupled to the speakers. In one embodiment of the invention a single state-variable filter is employed with a voltage controlled amplifier controlled by a low pass output of the state-variable filter to provide the speaker signal control. In another embodiment, a pair of state-variable filters are employed with the first of such filters defining a model for the speaker cone excursion and providing control output signals to a second state-variable filter which dynamically shifts its filtering characteristics causing increased signal attenuation when the control signals indicate that speaker over excursion may occur.

摘要: A hybrid capillary/mechanical two-phase thermal loop has a sensor connected in parallel with a number of evaporators to regulate the flowrate of a booster pump providing working fluid to the evaporator capillaries. This sensor is made of a coiled, conductive tube connected in parallel with the evaporators, with an inside diameter substantially greater than the inside diameters of the evaporator capillaries. A conductive wire extends within said tube, but is insulated from electrical contact with the tube. The working fluid contained within the tube acts as a dielectric between the tube and wire. The amount of liquid phase working fluid within the tube can be determined by measuring the electrical capacitance between the tube and wire. The flowrate of the booster pump is then regulated as a function of the measured capacitance to maintain a substantially constant amount of liquid phase working fluid within the sensor tube. The sensor thereby effectively regulates the flowrate of working fluid from the pump to match the aggregate demand of the evaporators.

摘要: A penetrating fastener has a fastener head and fastener tip spaced apart by a longitudinally oriented fastener shaft. A tetherable washer has a substantially planar base surface having a fastener aperture extending therethrough. A longitudinally oriented wall extends longitudinally upward from at least a portion of the base surface to form a concave fastener cavity configured to receive at least a portion of the fastener head. Two tether apertures extend laterally through the wall and are laterally spaced apart along the wall. Both of the tether apertures are laterally arranged along the wall in a rotationally asymmetric configuration. A first one of the tether apertures is located a second longitudinal distance from the base surface and a second one of the tether apertures is located a third longitudinal distance from the base surface. The tether apertures are configured to simultaneously accept a tether extending through both of the tether apertures.
