Abstract:
An exemplary method includes a content delivery system 1) detecting a request provided by an access device associated with a user to access network content by way of a network provided by a network service provider, the network content associated with a content provider and maintained by a content provider subsystem, 2) determining that a data usage charge for access by the user to the network content by way of the network is subsidized by the content provider in accordance with a subsidized access arrangement between the content provider and the network service provider, and 3) providing the user with subsidized access to the network content in accordance with a rule set associated with the subsidized access arrangement. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided that extend the capabilities of mobile phone devices to automatically assign media content items to “contacts” list entries. Thus, if a mobile device user indicates the desire to purchase a media content item to be assigned to or associated with another mobile device user (e.g., an entry in a contacts list), the experience of acquiring that media content item and making the assignment can be seamless reducing the number of tedious manual steps to accomplish that task.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for delivering content to mobile communication devices related to interactions of members with a user community. The method involves detecting a communication session involving a mobile communication device; determining one or more context parameters associated with the communication session; and delivering content related to the context parameters to one or more mobile communication devices. Data is stored at a central computing entity that indicates association or membership of a plurality of mobile communication device users in a user community. The central computing entity detects when an action is taken by one mobile device user that is a member of the user community, and sends a notification to members of the social circle based on the detected action. These techniques allow individuals who are involved in a user community to maintain their interaction with the user community using their mobile communication devices.

Abstract:
A proxy switch, communication methods, and communication logic for use in a mobile network are described. A proxy switch is deployed between a base station subsystem and a mobile station center. It receives signaling messages and either retransmits them, blocks them, converts them, or siphons them to an alternative network. Besides providing an ability to offload offload mobile traffic it provides a platform for new communication services. Among other things, to handle mobility management within the network, a proxy switch includes signaling message handling logic for receiving signaling messages from the MSC and BS in accordance with a mobile signaling protocol. The switch also includes state logic for maintaining state information of call sessions and mobile stations (MSs) used within the mobile communications network, and message interception logic for detecting whether the signaling message is a handoff message from a MS. The message interception logic prevents the handoff messages from being forwarded to the MSC if the MS is involved in the call, and if the MSC is not involved in the call. The switch further includes message conversion logic for converting a handoff message to a location update message for transmission to the MSC if the MS is involved in the call, and if the MSC is not involved in the call; and message transmission logic for transmitting the handoff messages to the MSC if the MS is not involved in the call.

Abstract:
An exemplary system includes at least one network device included in a network provider subsystem that provides an access device with access to a content processing subsystem by way of an access network. The network device is configured to receive a data flow from the content provider subsystem and directed to the access device by way of the access network, detect a code snippet embedded in the data flow, modify, based on the code snippet embedded in the data flow, content included in the data flow to activate at least one of an instant offer and an instant payment feature, and forward the modified data flow to the access device, the modified data flow configured to be processed by the access device to present the at least one of the instant offer and the instant payment feature to a user of the access device.

It receives signaling messages and either retransmits them, blocks them, converts them, or siphons them to an alternative network. A mobile communications network has at least one BS, at least one MS, at least one MSC, and at least one switch in communication with at least one of the BSs and the at least one of the MSCs. A BS is in trunk line communication with the switch and the trunk line communication is organized as bearer circuits, each bearer circuit identifiable with a circuit identification code (CIC). The switch receives signaling messages from the BS and determines if a call corresponding to the signaling message is to be handled by the alternative communication network. If so, the switch assigns a CIC for a bearer circuit for the call and communicates the CIC to the BS. Thereafter, the switch receives information on the CIC-identified bearer circuit and forwards the received information to the alternative network.
