Abstract:
A venting syringe plunger assembly for use with a syringe system allows for venting of gas from the syringe system during use. The plunger assembly includes a hollow outer sleeve having an interior surface, and an inner stem having an exterior surface. At least a portion of the inner stem is disposed within the outer sleeve so as to be movable (e.g., slidable) within the outer sleeve. A venting passageway is defined between the interior surface of the outer sleeve and the exterior surface of the inner stem. The plunger assembly also includes means for selectively moving the inner stem within the outer sleeve so as to selectively open and close the venting passageway.
Abstract:
An air sampling device and method to produce simulated samples of airborne substances obtained from institutional and industrial facilities. The device features 1) an environment container, 2) an ejector for introducing a contaminant into the container environment, 3) a sample collection holder to hold a filter, 4) a pump to withdraw the container environment and contaminant out of the container in a fashion that allows collection of the contaminant on the filter, and 5) a container inlet to allow replacement environment to enter the container.
Abstract:
An electronic engine controller controls the catalytic converter temperature by generating a desired rich air/fuel ratio that will maintain the catalytic converter at a predetermined temperature. The actual air/fuel ratio is ramped to the desired air/fuel ratio at a first rate when the catalytic converter temperature is greater than a first predetermined temperature. The actual air/fuel ratio is ramped to the desired air/fuel ratio at a second rate when the catalytic converter temperature is greater than a second predetermined temperature but less than the first predetermined temperature.
Abstract:
Kits and methods facilitate chair-side coating of an endodontic cone for improved sealing between the hydrophilic root canal tissue, the hydrophobic elastomer substrate of the endodontic cone, and a hydrophilic sealing resin. The kit includes one or more endodontic cones (e.g., formed of gutta percha) and a micro-dose container containing an adhesive composition. The practitioner can dip the cones into the adhesive composition so as to coat the cones chair-side, just prior to use. The adhesive composition includes an adhesive resin compound comprising at least one hydrophobic region and at least one hydrophilic region. The hydrophobic region is compatible with the hydrophobic elastomer substrate of the endodontic cone, while the hydrophilic region is compatible with a hydrophilic endodontic sealing resin.
Abstract:
A coping system for parapet is comprised of three separate components, a plurality of cleats, a plurality of chairs and a plurality of caps. The cleats are secured to the parapet at spaced intervals and each cleat supports a corresponding chair. Each cap extends between at least two cleats and chairs. Adjacent caps are spaced from each other forming a gap between the caps with the gap being located directly above the chair. The chair forms a gutter for routing water away from the top of the parapet. The chair biases the cap away from the parapet to maintain the engagement between the cap and the cleat. All three components are made entirely of metal providing a sealed joint between adjacent caps without the use of organic compounds.
Abstract:
Improved organic photovoltaic cells including a composition useful for forming an active layer which comprises (a) at least one p-type material, (b) at least one n-type material, (c) at least one first solvent and (d) at least one second solvent, wherein the first solvent is different from the second solvent, and the first solvent comprises at least one alkylbenzene or benzocyclohexane, and the second solvent comprises at least one carbocyclic compound. The second solvent can be used in lesser amounts but can improve efficiency in cells.

Abstract:
Activating endodontic points and dental tools are sized and configured to be placed in the root canal of a tooth. The activating endodontic points or dental tools are coated or impregnated with a curing agent that initiates or accelerates polymerization of a sealer or filler composition when placed in contact with the sealer or filler material. Curing agents can include amines that can destabilize a peroxide in the sealer or filler material to initiate or accelerate polymerization, or they may comprise the peroxide. An implement can be dipped in a concentrated curing composition just prior to inserting the implement into a root canal to contact the filler or sealer composition. Kits may include a plurality of curing agent compositions having different concentrations and/or amounts of curing agent. Kits may also include a curable resin material that includes a first part of a multi-part curing system and a curing composition that includes, as curing agent a complementary part of the curing system.
