摘要: A thermosetting plastic composition comprising thermosetting plastic resin with comminuted recycled glass powder as a filler. The composition may be up to 80% by weight glass powder. The recycled glass powder has non-uniform, rounded edges, is comminuted without the use of grinding compounds. A variety of thermosetting plastic resins may be used to form the composition. A method of protecting surfaces with a thermosetting plastic coating is also disclosed. A kit for producing a thermosetting plastic coating containing thermosetting plastic resin and comminuted recycled glass powder is also disclosed.

摘要: The use of comminuted, recycled glass powders as a filler in molded plastic parts is disclosed. The recycled glass preferably has rounded edges, which is a distinct advantage over conventional ground glass which has extremely sharp edges. Suitable comminuted glass is free from contaminants such as grinding compounds. The comminuted recycled glass filler can be used with a variety of different thermoplastics commonly used to in injection molding, rotational molding, and blow molding of plastic parts.

摘要: A method of sandblasting an article, such as in industrial cleaning and polishing, using recycled waste aluminum oxide ceramic particles is disclosed. In the method, a quantity of recycled ceramic aluminum oxide particles having a size ranging from about ¼ inch to about 400 mesh, depending upon the target and application, is obtained. For abrasive applications, the particle size is preferably from ¼ inch to 60 mesh. For polishing applications, the particle size is preferably from 80 to 400 mesh. The recycled ceramic particles are propelled at an article in a carrier stream, such as compressed gas. Known and novel sandblasting equipment can be used according to the present invention. The ceramic particles are preferably obtained by grinding waste aluminum oxide ceramic material, such as waste spark plugs, ceramic switches, liners, and fire bricks.

摘要: An apparatus for comminuting glass is disclosed having a housing. Within the housing are a plurality of weighted members or hammers, flexibly connected to and spaced about a rotatable shaft. A drive member rotates the shaft, causing the hammers to rotate about the shaft and define a rotation circumference. A glass intake opening located at the top portion of the housing is provided to introduce glass into the apparatus. A first adjustable plate is located adjacent the glass intake opening and positioned to provide a space between the first adjustable plate and the hammers' rotation circumference. A first glass suspension chamber is defined by the glass intake opening, the first adjustable plate, and the rotation circumference of the hammers. In operation, the shaft is rotated, causing the weighted members to spin about the shaft. A quantity of glass is introduced into the apparatus, and the weighted members contact the glass, causing the glass to strike the first adjustable plate. Adjusting the space between the first adjustable plate the weighted members' rotation circumference helps control the resulting particle size of the comminuted glass. Controlling the shaft rotation speed also affects the resulting particle size of the comminuted glass.

摘要: An inspection apparatus adapted for use in motor vehicle maintenance and repair is disclosed. A sensor, such as a video camera, is coupled by an elongated, flexible shaft to a self-contained, handheld power source. A source of illumination is mounted near the sensor and directs light onto an object that is viewed by the sensor. Input power to the sensor and the illumination source, and an output signal from the sensor, are coupled through the shaft, which will maintain any desired flexed position. Optionally, one or more microphones are mounted near the sensor to receive sounds produced by the object. Connectors extend from a housing of the power source so that the sensor output signal and an output from the microphones may be coupled to an external device. A removable clamp may be affixed to the apparatus so that the apparatus can be temporarily attached to a motor vehicle. As a result, a technician may easily visualize parts of the motor vehicle safely, clearly, and without disassembling the parts.
