摘要: A new, highly selective way of removing bromine contamination from a gaseous stream comprised of hydrogen bromide and bromine is described. Such process technology involves non-catalyzed free radical (benzylic) bromination of an alkylene-bridged aromatic hydrocarbon and/or certain alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons and recovering the purified gaseous HBr. Because of the high selectivity of the bromination on the aliphatic bridges or side-chains, virtually no ring bromination occurs, and this enables recovery of the bromine values in the form of HBr. Thus preferably, the bromine is recovered as HBr from the scrubbing liquid by subjecting the scrubbing liquid to thermal or catalytic dehyrobromination. In plant operations, the gaseous HBr purified in the process can then be introduced into a compressor to produce either liquid or gaseous HBr for storage under pressure. Alternatively, the purified gaseous HBr can be fed directly into one or more reactions in which HBr is used as a reactant.

摘要: A separable tag for bags or other containers, each tag comprising a laminar tag-like member having a series of layers, generally an upper and lower layer, the upper layer contains print materials such as for functioning as a coupon, and its is adhesively applied but peelable from a bottom layer of the tag that is securely affixed to the packaged food product. The tags may be formed continuously, but pulled free at a line of perforation, when applied manually or by machine to the bags.

摘要: A patterned adhesive tag applied to separable-lid containers, hinged-lid containers, film-lid containers, and other packaged products. The patterned tag adhesive is designed to add security to the packaging of the goods, such that when an unauthorized person tries to remove the tag, it will tear, indicating an unauthorized entry, and caution against purchase or usage of the product. The tag is designed to wrap around a plurality of sides of the packaged product. The tag may be multi-layered through the usage of additional adhesives and substrates to facilitate couponing and booklet applications for the marketed product.

摘要: A method for controlling the abrasive machining, especially abrasive flow machining of a part which includes measuring any acoustic emission signal caused by the abrasive machining of such part; thereafter comparing a high frequency, e.g. greater than 100 kHz, component of said signal with a low frequency, e.g. less than 100 kHz, component of said signal to generate a control ratio. When the control ratio reaches a predetermined ratio, or predetermined change in the ratio over time, a control action of the machining process is effected, such as termination of the flow of abrasive.

摘要: 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane or 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane are employed as solvents to remove oleophylic material from mineral particulates. In one aspect the method of this invention includes the steps of transporting oil-based mud-laden cuttings to a solid feed tank wherein the oil-based cuttings are subjected to turbulent mixing to leave the surface of the cuttings substantially free of oil. The cuttings are then subjected to countercurrent flow of solvent in order to separate oily solvent and fines smaller than a chosen diameter from the heavier solids. The heavier solids are cleaned of any remaining oil-based muds, separated from cleaning solvent and ultimately returned to the sea environment.

摘要: The present invention comprises a mixing paddle assembly which may be used with a variety of mixing devices, but which is especially useful with devices which include a motorized carriage adapted to move along a beam spaced above an elongate mixing vat. Depending from the carriage are a pair of shafts, and within the carriage a separate motor is adapted to move the shafts upwardly and downwardly as the carriage moves along the beam. The mixing paddles of the present invention are affixed to the end of such shafts. The improved paddle assemblies of the present invention include a pair of plastic blades mounted to a blade assembly which includes laterally extending, stationary pegs residing in arcuate slots of pivotably supported end plates, so that the blades may be freely rotated on supporting shafts to be angled differently on the forward and return passes of the paddles. The supporting shafts extend substantially normal to the axis of the respective depending shaft. The slant of the blades insures that the blades will knife down to the floor of the vat without damage to delicate process materials, such as cottage cheese curd. The other blade also participates in the mixing procedure. Movement of the paddle assembly from one operating position to another operating position is caused by a change in direction of movement of the depending shaft to which the paddle is attached.

摘要: Filter cigarettes with a predetermined dilution factor are produced by perforating a filter attachment web by means of an adjustable perforating device prior to using portions of the web to join filters to cigarettes; measuring the porosity of the perforated web; measuring the dilution of cigarettes assembled with portions of the web; and controlling the perforating device by immediate response to the measured porosity and by progressive response to the dilution of the assembled cigarettes. The perforating device may comprise spark perforating electrodes, the web being possibly passed twice between the electrodes. In particular, the perforating device includes a number of pairs of electrodes defining spark gaps therebetween and lying along a line inclined to the direction of movement of the web. Individual rod electrodes are located between and spaced from opposed metal plates connected to a power supply to form capacitances in series with the spark gaps.

摘要: An ice fishing hole heater comprises a housing defining an open topped cavity adapted to receive a combustible fuel source. Heater is constructed so that the specific gravity of the housing and the heat source enables the heater to be buoyantly supported in a body of water. The housing also includes ballast weight to maintain the housing in an upright position. Preferably, the housing includes a radially expanded ring which is hollow to stabilize the housing as it floats and which floats at the surface level of the body of water to radiate heat from an expanded surface area into the water in the hole.
